Iida the terrier's maternity diary

One of my dog trainer friends used to buy and dehydrate lung for training rewards. He had the most popular pockets for miles. Dogs that were nothing to do with his outdoor training sessions would leave their owners and follow him.

Boy did it stink.

Oh...I bet they do, they are not 'whiffless' even when fresh! I can't even imagine what the smell must be when it is being dried out.

On a good news....Iida has been hungry this morning and although she first had some plain beef mince and with lots of consideration going on between each mouthful, all of the sudden she realized her tummy actually liked what was going in. So as the going was good, I switched from beef to offer her some of my home made mince. I was holding my breath while waiting her reaction again...but it appears she likes it! YAYYY! Or at least it was right day for it...

Day 36 and Iida has had her ultrasound......and.....YES! We have PUPPIES on the way :D:D
Although I was already suspecting it, and although she is not physically showing much signs for it....vet said "looks like there is plenty there....":eek::eek:
Now I didn't get definition what 'plenty' amounts to....but now I'm getting bit edgy if she is going to follow her mum's lead and push out 'dozens' of them out. Lol....not litereally but she is from litter 9 and that to me is more than just 'plenty'...I hope not, even just half of that would be plenty.
Yesterday Iida was first time sick...she has been feeling put off food but not sick before that. And I also noticed that when she sits, her back legs are further apart than is her usual neat sitting style. But when she stands...she doesn't show that there is some extra filling inside...no doubt that is about to change soon.
Boobies are still small and do not look 'pregnant like'.
Her appetite has started to change and she seem to be little more hungry, but I'm having to give her food in very small portions but more often to keep her appetite up and not feeling sick....poor little one. And she doesn't seem to enjoy red meats or bones much at all, just minced chicken with fruit and veg at the moment with some bones minced in for little crunch.....home made of course;)
So now I can start properly planning the weeks ahead and get supplies and build pen...and box and and..plenty to do! :D

Even more EXCITED now!:):D
.
LOL...Auntie excuseme...you've still got almost 4 weeks to be excited and hype it up to the full force..:D:D...how will you manage?
You are welcome to come for a puppy birthing 'party'...I'll get some camp beds up next to the whelping box...we'll have some candles too...bring a bottle of your sloe gin (ready or not)...I'll make some food and have another bottle of something suitable ...for disinfection, of course ;) You have your expertise and I'll ..umm..I will be enthusiastic student to pass on any necessary help and we shall soon bring 'plenty' of puppies into the world. Then I have hands free to make video to show others what what we got up to :D Though I might have to edit the video to cut out any extra giggles..:D
In reality...sounds like fun idea, though dog might not approve such a party... Just a fun thought....

Thank's for the invite! :emoji_cocktail:
Unfortunately I think you may be a little too far away.
I have no idea how I will manage for four weeks, I may have to start my second litre of sloe gin by then! (i have only made 4 litres) Husband does not like it, so it is all for me.
I managed to freeze about 1.5 lbs of fruit last week, I will be watching out for the gin to come on special offer in the supermarket.

I'm sure you will make a marvelous midwife:rolleyes:

Excited:D

Congratulations!! I would add a 'hooray' type emoji thing here but I don't know how!!

Quick emoji tutorial:

If you want to quote the whole post, there should be a ”Quote” button at the bottom of it.

If you want to quote just part of it, highlight the text you want to quote and there should be a little ”Quote“ button appears just below it. Click that. Just below the message box where you want to reply, there should be a button that says ”insert quotes”. Click that, and any text you have selected for quoting should appear with the option to ”quote these messages” or ”remove” if you have changed your mind. :)

I finally managed to get a update photo of my girl and her girly bits. For some reason she has started to run away from a camera and she will even wake up from deepest sleep when I reach towards it, even without making any noise!

And she has had shave too..:D So she is now in the middle of her 6th week, the 'milk bar' is starting to show up but still barely much swelling showing up. I've been in touch with Iida's breeder to deliver the good news, and Iida's mum didn't show much signs neither until her 7th week and then there was almost daily changes into her appearance! Girl seem to be following her mum's foot steps in so many same ways.
