Our Duster had the same operation when he was 8 years old. Our vet took ages to decide that he didn't know what was wrong with him and eventually referred us to The Animal Health Trust for a MRI scan as that was the only place in the country with an MRI scanner for animals at the time. We saw a neurological specialist there first though and she diagnosed a prolapsed disc and exactly where it was in about 4 minutes with only the aid of a rubber hammer! Thats the beauty of a specialist for you.

He lived till he was 14. Good luck Woody. I'm sure everything will work out just fine

Dear Jax

Keeping everything crossed for the boy XXX

My friend's 9 year old had a similar op last year and made a remarkable recovery. The pain problem he had was pain in his shoulder where they took some bone to graft his vertabrae together - the actual operation site was really no problem for him.

Attached is a pic of him about 6 or 7 days after surgery.....

Best of luck,

Louise xxx
