What Has Happened To K9 ?

i lurk most days just to see if theres anything of interest and occasionaly post pics of my girls and stuff ,but i dont ask advice like i used to especaily in the iggy section i feel like il get shot down for not knowing in the first place, as i own 5 iggys i should no this ,so i tend to look for advice on the internet rather than on here or ask my breeder ...but i always like to have others views as well as peoples views vary wish i felt like i could do this on the iggy section without feeling like im not a good iggy owner ,hope that makes sence it did in my head :teehee:but i spose i shall try starting today hope everyone had a fab christmas and good 2011 to you all :D

all the iggy people left here ages ago so who would shoot you down? theres none here any more!lol!
come on they still lurk on here :teehee: i didnt mention iggy people ?and going by some of the past posts on there that have been shot down ,i just cant be assed with all of the nonsence ,so i usualy keep quiet, this post wasnt ment to cause arguments it just how i feel.
do they? sorry i thought you meant the iggy people because you said you dont ask for advice especially on the iggy forum and one would assume that the people on there whose advice youre asking would be iggy people?

im sure your post wouldnt cause any arguments after all theres noone on there now to have any arguments with!

The number of posts on this topic has been great.

I am so glad that most of you are still lurking in the background ;)

Personally, I find Facebook a fact of life but that is all. It does not have the depth of k9 and never will.

Facebook is what it says on the packet, a social networking site.

k9. remains on the whole a place where genuine sighthound folk can find good advice and keep in touch.

I've had rescue whippy x's for five years but only had my full whippies for 2 years so I count myself a novice compared with the experience of others, although I grew up with working dogs. I have found a lot of the topics very informative and I do offer opinions without trying to be inflammatory, but that is all they are - my opinions. However, I have been jumped on from a great height both on the open forum and by pm, not because I have done anything dastardly, mean or cruel but because my thoughts differ from others, especially on one particular topic, which I'm not even going to mention! (NB Thanks to Eve for her invaluable advice on a subject which we did in the privacy of pm's!) It's a shame because it has made me think twice about posting anything at all and I do love this whippy world and I don't know anyone near me with this wonderful breed.

I enjoy this forum, there is such a range of different experience here and I find all sorts of dog-related topics interesting even if they are about things I'm not involved in personally.
With such a range of dogs, owners, experience and activities it's not surprising there are sometimes disagreements - but robust discussions and differing opinions are what makes forums interesting and stimulating. Forums where people do nothing but coo over cute pictures and agree with each other are incredibly boring (I love seeing peoples' pictures btw, but if that was all there was I'd probably not log in very often).

What is disappointing on here, more than any other forum I visit, is that as soon as there is disagreement it very quickly descends from discussion and reasonable argument to personal bitchy remarks, silly name-calling and foul language, and the original topic gets lost along the way.

I don't know why that is, possibly because a lot of people here know each other personally and compete against each other, so 'real life' grudges get carried onto the forum? I don't know anyone so it all sails completely over my head but it seems such a shame people can't have a discussion without it descending to playground level, and I'm sure puts people off coming on here.

so tempted to think up something bitchy, call you a silly name and swear   (w00t) :p :p

   I'd have to retaliate in kind.......

I did do and I can hold my own with the best of them but it's not what I come on the forum for. I love everyone's pics, I laugh at the silly side of owning this lovely breed but I also really like the serious discussions and other peoples experiences can be invaluable to someone if they're having similar problems with their whippets. I suppose it's a case of just ignoring it if you are jumped on.

This is the first time I've been on here probably for over a year - and I only logged in to share some sad news.

The reason I left was exactly what everyone has been talking about on this thread - so much nastiness and bitching and I can really do without the drama tbb.

So I added some nice folk on facebook and that's how I stay in touch with the pointy-dog folk these days...

Of course I do think fondly back to the K9chat days - not least cuz that's where I met the lovely Borntohunt :D

I'm brand new here (joined yesterday in fact!) and would just like to add my two penn'orth - if I may :))

I've been reading up on such useful advice and information on this forum/community site over the last 2 weeks and have gained so much knowledge.

I was delighted to find a forum where people are so friendly and helpful to each other - a bit sad that the greyhound forum itself is quiet, but that's not the end of the world.

You see, we collect our first greyhound today and I joined up here because of the open-ness and humour too.

So as a newbie I'd like to say, please don't feel too down because a New Year brings a new outlook and maybe the newbies who are regularly joining - along with the help of the regulars - can participate to help revive the site. :))

I think that's about two penn'orth's worth (or however you spell it)! :teehee:

Hi and welcome to K9. I think it is a great place, particularly when people need advice and information. Good luck with your new greyhound.

I also agree this forum has changed very quiet now...!!

I also liked 'the whippet forum' but as i don't go on there that often i cann't log on and know one seems to care either...!! so i'am back on here so i can keep up with the showing world of whippets plus get advice when required...!!! :D

I donn't always have time in the summer to go on all the forums with not just the dogs to show i've now got my self 2 mini shelts to get out and about too so i tend to use these forums in the winter as we do less...!!! is anyone else the same...?? :)

Good post

Always lovely to welcome new members.

This site is fantastic, I have met new friends (my dogs have too :D ) and had lots of wonderful help and advice.

Very occassionally something controversial or down right unpleasant pops up but on the whole K9 is a wonderful site to visit and there is always someone to help. The greyhound section may be a bit thin but ask and someone will help if you need it.
