Trophy for sale on Ebay

I Agree Michele it's not to do with what you do it's the History behind it and not it money Value.

I think he will re-list again hopeing no one see's it.

Whats the guy's problem? Surely the trophy doesn't have much value other than to the club who's name is all over it? He's not gonna get much for it wherever he sells it, i get the impression he's trying to **** someone off!!!

Oooh just had a thought maybe he thought he'd just try his luck on the free listing day?

unless he's got this stupid idea its worth a fortune melted down....cant see it though.

The most he would make from melting it down is around £28.50 an ounce. I'm not sure what the current value of silver is but it's about that price. So at the most we are looking at around a £150 for scrap value. Who wants a melted down trophy anyway. I agree that the historical value cannot be put into figures and there is also the fact that the person who donated it in the first place gave to remember their name and their dogs. So come on Minty lets have it "DONATED" back to the club where it belongs.

I've just had an email from 'Mintyjack' - the seller of this trophy on eBay. he's a little upset about a few of the post in this topic. To keep the man happy I've edited/deleted the specific things he objected to.

Earlier today I emailed a solicitor to try & get clarification on the legal standing of this trophy. I would have thought it's very straight forward - but possibly Scottish law is different in this respect.

Let's hope it gets resolved.

lol bloody hell -

nigel :huggles: minty

omg......ive been censored  .

how did he know about k9?

When this item first was on Ebay I left a message in their contact dept saying the property was not the sellers to sell , giving the item number and everything. I heard nothing back ,no reply or acknowledgment. I also Email the first bidder to inform him he was bidding for goods not belonging to seller. ;) I informed the seller `Mintyjack `that theTrophy still belonged to W C of S did he realise . he replyed no . :x Since then i have email him to ask `nicely`for the trophy to be returned and the reply I got is not printable on here! (w00t)

Mark where on Ebay was it for sale ?

all i did was bid £11.50 o:) ....i didnt send any nasty emails or anything.

It's back on ebay - current bid just £1!!! What the hell is going on?!

Type in Whippet Trophy to find it on ebay...

this chap seems to have quite a few trophies for sale ???

I see we`ve got 9 days , If we bid for it then he`s getting away with selling goods that arn`t his, and making us look stupid . If we are going to bid for it ,it should be done by one person ,Nigel? It would be daft if we were to be bidding against each other . A top price must be agreed ,but as he knows about K9 is there another way we can confur?

You'd have thought he'd have given up trying to sell it on ebay by now... he must be pretty determined - although why does he keep withdrawing it only to relist it? It doesn't make sense....?

`cos he`s a P  ..T . I hope nobody bids , serves him right!

Sorry for being slack and not wading through loads of pages of posts on this matter. But has anyone complained to Ebay about this matter?

Nigel, I realise you're a gentleman, well a saint o:) , (you put up with us), but as he sent an "un printable " message, to one of our members when she notified him, about the rightfull owners of this trophy. Couldn't you just have told him to take a running jump, preferably into a vat of boiling whippet p**s  .

Is anyone from the WCoS contacting ebay or him ?

I am more than happy to inform ebay that he's selling an item on their site, that is not his to sell. I imagine, that once he was informed of this, he could either be prosecuted, or made to return it.

If the trophy was not a perpetual gift by the whippet club concerned then it still belongs to them.

The current owner of the cup, " Mintyjack" (real name known, and whereabouts known), would not, therefore, be the legal owner of the property. Since it is clear that he is in possession of the cup, then even if it were to go missing whilst it was in his possession, he would still be responsible for the cup and responsible for its value.

"Good faith" is no defence" and the current, known, owner of this property cannot claim no knowledge of its true ownership.

The original owners of the cup have legal title to this property, which would stand the test of the small claims court (or any other court) and could make a legitimate claim against the last known holder of the property for its replacement value. Other actions would be at the discretion of the appropriate authorities.

Whether the legitimate owners of the cup would be prepared to take this matter further is, of course, their decsion, no matter which way the action is taken.
