Please Pray For Tascha

Hi Andrea, I really am thinking of you and Tasha. My friend had a similar thing happen to her whippet, Talullah about 6 months ago. She was rushed straight to the vets - and was running around as though nothing had happened in a couple of days. I hope Tasha has the same end result - it won't stop you worrying though.

I have been away working and only just caught up with this thread- My blood ran cold when I read your first post as it was my Whippet Alfie who did exactly the same thing...
2 o'clock on Xmas morning 3 years ago (isn't it always at the worst possible time?!) I discovered within an hour that he had got into my handbag and eaten approx 20 Ibuprofen tablets...
I phoned the vet who had obviously been celebrating (!) and he told me to give him milk if I couldn't make him sick. Luckily I made him sick anyway, because, to cut a long story short, by the time the vet would agree to see him, the day after Boxing Day, he was in acute renal failure and given very little chance of survival. If I hadn't made him sick, he would have been dead. His kidney levels were sky high- can't remember which was which, of creatinine and urea, but one level should have been up to 9 and was 55, and one should have been up to about 45 and was 450...
To the vet's amazement, he made a miraculous recovery once put on the drip, and was allowed home 4 days later, with his levels almost back to normal, with just the liver level slightly higher, obviously the liver was working hard to get rid of the toxins. I gave him milk thistle to help the liver recover.
His blood tests a month later were completely normal, and he has been healthy ever since, so hopefully Tascha will make a complete recovery as well.
Give Tascha a hug from me, and a kick up the backside for being so naughty!!

Liz, thanks for posting that, it has given me great hope that Tascha will make a full recovery. She has to go back for blood tests later on this afternoon, but on the whole, I think she's doing ok. We took her out for a good run yesterday, and she made her first catch, a bird of all things, the look of total suprise on her face when she got it was so comical, wish I'd had my camera. Anyway, the bird flew away after, as she was quite befuddled as to what to do with it when she caught it (w00t) .
I will post again later on and let you know what the vet said, I'm not sure how long it takes to get the blood test results back.
I'm sure Tascha doesn't realise how naughty she has been, as she's been more disgustingly spoilt the last few days than ever before :lol: I was too relieved to be angry with her (w00t)
