Herts - Whippet Missing

:huggles: have you any news or leads to were luci is yet?

still got my fingers crossed for you . :huggles:

:sweating: :sweating: :sweating: excited again :( yes though any news?

Thanks guys but I'm afraid there's no news yet. But not giving up, will keep putting up more posters & hope I get lucky. Plus lots of hoping & praying :luck: :luck: Will keep you posted...Sam x

I am convinced that Luci is within a 5 mile radius of your home. I hope you get a lead soon. My friend had a cat disappear and it turned up 3 years later at the local vets, they had adopted it as a stray. I still leap to check this thread every time it reaches the top :(

I'm a coward - I've found this thread too upsetting to read in it's entirity. I can't image how dreadful you must feel, not knowing where is is and if she is safe. I hope that if someone has found her and has no intention of returning her to you, they realise how special she is, and she is now a much loved member of their family.

Good Luck - I really do hope you find her and she is home with her family soon.

Rae :luck:

Thanks Joanna & Rae  Yes I think that Luci probably will be quite close, but not sure I've heard of dogs being found very far from home. Luci is very special indeed & I hope a caring person has found her and Luci is being treated the way that she deserves. The first person to take Luci is obviously not a caring person (Luci's ID can not be removed by anything other than a human), but Luci could well have been sold on to someone who can provide a loving home for my angel. I'm trying not to lose hope but it's been over 12 weeks now and it's getting very hard to stay positive. Thanks again for your support :huggles:

Ive found this very hard too :( to read in its entirity to :( hope & pray you will find your baby very very soon :huggles:

Hope youi dont mind me adding this~ but quite a few years ago my OH came to where i was working, in a state and informed me our little JRhad dissapeared~he had searched the field we walked daily & allround the roads the fields at the bottom of our garden & asked at the local police stn.WE were both frantic with worry :( we searched all that day going over the same ground, when later that evening i had come back towards home & i saw 2 doors up from our house children playing with BRAMBLE on their front lawn!!!!!!!!! i couldnt believe my eyes!!

Icant remember much what was said ,because i was so shocked & relieved ~ but one thing i can remember was the neighbour saying "oh my children were thinking of a name to callher" what a cheek some people

Now they knew we had a lot of dogs why didnt they ask if we had lost one  ....So sorry if i rambled on... & all the very best of luck in finding Luci :huggles:

Caz x

Thanks Caz & Janis :) Yes Caz I've heard loads of stories of people keeping dogs that they have found without making the slightest effort to search for the owners. It's terrible. The owner's have only managed to get their dogs back by chance.

One guy found a couple of french bull dogs by the road, another passer by saw them to but the first man said to her that he would drop them off at the local rescue centre & never did! The owner put posters up everywhere including ads in papers and someone who knew the man had seen him walking the two dogs and told him to call the owner which he eventually did but only because he had been caught out! Someone prior to that had seen his wife walking them and the person had never seen them before and asked lots of questions about them to which the woman gave very suspicious vague answers, not mentioning how she came to have them, the stranger didn't think it was right but wasn't much she could do. Luckily they have been reunited, but the poor oners could easily have never seen them again. Our dogs are like our children, they're not objects! How can people treat them as so?

Also there's a staffie that is missing (think its been gone 3 months) which the owner had chipped. The other day the microchip company phoned to say that someone wanted to change the details on the chip, of course the owner was overjoyed until the company said that the information given was confidential, and the woman couldn't have any of it. So owner is back to square one! What is the point of chipping if this happens? It's ludacrous! The police aren't interested.

Sorry if I've mentioned these stories before, don't think I have. But with so many things stacked up against us missing dog owners it is very disheartening. Once again really appreciate your help & support, it truly does help alot.

Thankyou :huggles:

Fingers crossed I'll have a lead soon...Sam x x

Lets hope that sooner or later whoever has got either decides to bring her to some event or racing and brings her to one of our clubs, or decides that they'd like another whippet and approaches one of the many people on here for one.

With a community of this size all looking out for her she'll be home, someone will spot her sooner or later Sam don't lose hope :huggles:

Are the chip company even oblidged to tell the new owners that the dog was lost/stolen? (assuming that they didn't help themselves to her in the first place)

This is awful.

Have you any travellers in you area ?? just a thought ..when Luci went missing ??

or any strangers around maybe.

That chipping company story is pretty awful. Surely the whole point is that the dog is reunited with the REAL owner - the company should not be hiding behind data protection to protect frauds

edited to ask: did the chipping company actually allow the person to change the details? If so, then that is very worrying - we all RELY on the chip to get our dogs back. If the info can just be changed at will, then there is no point to it and they are taking our money under false pretenses

Re-read the story about the missing staff, Lucy has been missing since 23/11/03! And only got a call from the chip company 31/01/05, owners must have given up hope & suddenly they get this amazing lead and can't do anything with it. The microchip company phoned the owner to ask for her permission to have the info on the chipped changed, since she obviously said no I hope it wasn't changed. Since the police have said it's a civil matter the owners are trying to get Trading Standards envolved. But have had no news yet about what is happening. Poor owner, I'd be down to the microchip company with a baseball bat if that was Luci! It's just crazy! As someone said "imagine the reaction of the DVLA and the police if someone who had acquired a stolen car tried to get it re-registered to their name and address!". Fingers crossed for Lucy & her owner, I'll keep you all informed of any progress. :luck: :luck: :luck:

Thanks Lesley, I'm hoping to that someone takes Luci to some event soon I'm of course planning to go to as many as possible. But with so many K9'ers aware, my chances of finding her are greatly increased.

Hi Janis, we do occaisionally get travellers hare coursing around this area but don't know where they are based. The only thing different about the first few days Luci went missing were that there were loads of people out shooting, not travellers but gamekeepers etc. OH told them about Luci so I thought that they would've seen her, but no. OH is convinced that they shot her. I just don't know.

Thanks as always for your messages...x x :huggles:

this is such a sad story.luci is obviously much loved by you and your family.if the microchip company rang me with this story then id put the fear of god in them and threaten to go to the papers with the story and get them some bad publlicity that will put off any future potential customers. go to all your local parks and beauty spots where folk walk their dogs, you never know you might find her.also put posters in local vets and on trees in local parks so dog walkers will see her.ill say another prayer for her tonight, hope you are reunited soon. :(

Hello Kris, I have been putting up loads of posters in parks, rescue centres, vets, shops & on footpaths etc. and spoken to so many people but Luci is no where to be found. I'll keep doing my best, there are a couple more beauty spots further out that I haven't done, didn't think of them til I read your post

Just found out that I missed the Hertfordshire Gamekeeper & Countryman Fair :( But it's a bank holiday this weekend so I will find out about all the events happening, will definitly be going to the Knebworth Country Show.

Thankyou Kris for your thoughts and prayers :)

I went to the Knebworth show with my eyes peeled for Luci-unfortunately drew a blank but will keep looking for her.

I really feel for you and truly hope she makes it back to where she belongs.....

Hi Wallabyhouse, yes I was getting my hopes up at Knebworth show there were hundreds of dogs there (I went Sunday). Not so many Whippets though, we took 3 & a Jack Russell who all loved it. It was a lovely day 8) , if anything a bit too hot and all our stubborn dogs didn't want to drink any of the water that other dogs had been drinking! It was so different from last year which was an absolute mud bath!

It was lovely seeing all the different breeds, I met a brindle coloured Scottie dog which I never knew existed & a huge 10 month old brindle Irish Wolf hound who was such a beautiful gentle dog. And the cutest little bichon frise, she was only 12 weeks so this was her first real outing. She was a walking fluffy cloud, adorable! Everyone I talked to was so nice, but alas no one had seen Luci :( . Such a shame, but maybe I'll have more luck at the Herts County Show at the end of the month.

Thankyou for keeping an eye out for Luci, I really appreciate your help
