Who's watching Crufts? I want a Slovakian Rough-Haired Pointer :emoji_blue_heart:

It's occurred to me that I'd never want a dog whose eyes were hidden behind fur - they communicate so much with their eyes, and communication is everything (I still want a Water Spaniel though...).

Not yet.

But I was there in 2020 and it was the best weekend - we had such a great time. I fell a little bit in love with a Norfolk terrier that I got lovely cuddles from. And everyone showing was so kind, happy to explain everything about their breed, really pleased when we showed an interest.

How about a DF meet up there next year?

Ooh, now there's an idea :) I might have to examine my conscience though... I worry that it is really for the benefit of the owners, not the dogs - what dog would choose to spend a day travelling, a day being bathed, groomed and primped, and hours of hanging around? And then there's all the issues round fat labs, chunky Clumbers, and all those flat noses...

Agility, obedince, heelwork to music, discover dogs, service dog displays ... watching the show dogs was about 10% of my experience !

Where did you stay last time?

My friend and I stayed in an Air BnB . It was a really easy trip to the NEC.

As usual I loved that whippet. A lovely girl. Mind you, I was impressed with the flyball heats but I can’t take the shouting.

Sorry I changed my mind but couldn't delete the whole thing
Snow, what snow? Plenty of sleet and rain with bitterly cold wind brrr

Down here, we even get excited about sleet...

In Herefordshire we still point at aeroplanes.

Hello forum! yes I watched some of day 1 and looking forward to catching up on the rest, thanks for the reminder

Welcome to the forum, Carl :) What breeds will you be rooting for? If I do go, it has to be on hounds & terriers day.

Did that GSD in the Pastoral class seem to have some awkwardness in its hips?

Yes I think his back end looked awful!! with a very uncomfortable action. (poor thing)
Was that put in as best of it's breed ! ?

Added;
I have just watched it again on channel 15, it does not have a very straight action and it appears to throw it's rear foot out and round before placing it on the ground too.

I was just coming in to say the same thing about the GSD - his legs looked like they were about to give way. I thought they were supposed to have taken steps to improve the breed standard? It's very sad.

I think it was the Portuguese Water Dog whose handler was holding its tail up over its back as the commentator said that was the correct position for the tail - arching over the back. At which moment, the handler let go of the tail and it moved behind the dog and drooped down. That made me laugh out loud :D

I noticed that one too Judy.
One unfortunate problem is that, having won "Best of breed" at Crufts, and to get as far as they have, people will be wanting to mate their bitches to them or if it is a girl, they will be placing orders for their puppies:eek:
