"Love" isn't what they need, though, is it?
Care, basic training in how to tolerate our scary alien world, sensible nutrition and healthcare, fun, freedom from fear......I'm sure you can add more. But human "love" for animals is often toxic, selfish and exploitative. Kudos to all those people who get it right.
