Hang in there!
Your pup is still very young and right now it seems nearly impossible to teach him anything - especially with children around.
I don't have children, but when I lived at home we brought an 8 month old "puppy" into our house, when my sister was only 2 years old. Good luck...
I'm going to agree with other people here - none of those breeds are great for apartment life. They're all quite big and need to be carried up/down stairs for the first year.
Especially in the first couple of months this will be many times a day and you will not always know exactly when. Even...
That makes perfect sense in those cases. Sounds like some awful dog walkers; I can completely understand you would want to check that they're doing it properly if that's your experience! I tend to only use dog-walkers who walk 1 dog at the time - and generally they're not allowed off-lead...
Hi everyone.
As the title says I'm looking for something to do with my dog the upcoming summer - don't worry I'm not planning on letting him go alone ;)
Preferably something that lasts a couple of days at least and centred around the dogs, eg. agility/obedience/dogdancing and anything else...
Before I bought my own dog I used to dog-walk, so I know what I had to "offer" and what I look for now when looking for a dog-walker.
Experience with dogs: I'm a veterinary medicine student. I don't expect my dog-walker to have professional knowledge of dogs, but at least having owned dogs...
I pay roughly 20 pounds per month. That covers vet expenses worth up til 4600 pounds per year, including medicine and home-supplies like collars, harnesses etc. I pay excess 70 pounds and 10% of the full bill.
I live in an apartment where AFTER we signed the lease (after having asked a million questions about being allowed to keep dogs there) they informed us that you can only have dogs under 10kg.
Well, I guess my 7 months old moyen poodle will stay 8kg forever. At least officially
Thank you for all your advices.
We have trained it a lot in the last week, using the method of slowly introducing him to being left alone new places and he's already doing so much better! Just yesterday he happily waited in a kennel at the vets while having his passport checked - not a single...

Thank you, I do appreciate what you and Murphy are saying. But this is in Denmark.
It is perfectly normal in rural areas here. And don't worry, I am very careful about doing something that might put him at risk. In the end, it's not what my question is about.
My real worry is not...
Thank you for your advice, I will try not leaving him for the next couple of months until he's a bit more confident. Or if absolutely necessary, with something of mine.
I have heard about these and I appreciate your concern but I live in a place where leaving your dog unattended is completely normal - most people are quite happy to leave their baby outside a shop i a pram. So though I wouldn't dream of doing it somewhere I was not familiar with, I can do it...
Hi everyone.
I have a 5 month old poodle puppy, a complete star with 99% of things.
He's great at being home alone and does fine with being crated in the night. He even handles being left in the car really well.
However; whenever we go somewhere new and I leave for just a few minutes, he...
Thank you so much everyone. I can tell you that he is currently sniffing around on the floor, happy and content.
Taking him with me so far seems like the right choice.
Perhaps ask me in a couple of hours how much work I got done though ;)
Hi everyone!
I just want your opinion on something.
I picked up my 10 weeks old poodle puppy this sunday, so 4 days ago. So far he's handling everything like a pro; sleeps through the night, doesn't bite (much) and is settling in very nicely.
I have of course been home with him for the past...
