Well spotted!! I ordered some clippers as soon as I got him home, they arrived yesterday and I did them all (after pics were taken) with no fuss until the last 3 when I think he got bored.
He's a lot less dangerous to hold now!
The breeder did mention them, but didn't do them.
He's such a frail little thing I can barely imagine what his adult self will look like, except this one shot where I can imagine him becoming quite a compact but athletic little fella:
Thanks Eve - will do! Getting the first sign of progress, both on my part and his.
I'm not a parent yet, but I teach primary school kids music for a living so I completely understand the parallels!!
Thanks for this - I think I'll do it, the shakes make me fear for his life and that's after a warm shower so god knows what November rain what do to him!!
I'll get one from Citycroft - your Macy models it so well, very cute!
He's on pads, but as far as I can see they aren't treated with anything to encourage him to use the spot so I've left it with a bit of "residue" (wee) on it so he can hopefully smell that it's meant to be a toilet. When I confine him to the pad he seems to get really stressed out and whines a...
We've opted for "Be Quick" - hardly had a chance to use it though! He's still nowhere near getting the idea of the pads/paper, looks fed up, tries to escape the situation, whines a bit, then lies down on them.
As soon as he's allowed to leave the pad he still pees on the floor, but because it...
Glad I'm not the only owner to have achieved inverted results! He did a perfect textbook job earlier and our praise was obviously so over-the-top he's decided not to do it like that again.
Is it correct to interrupt him mid flow and whisk him over to the pad? Or should he be allowed to finish...
It's an interesting possibility isn't it - I hadn't thought of it, but the floors he loves to use are wood so maybe not so different to paper.
A frustrating development now is that he sees me coming to pick him when he squats and runs off - if he knows he's going to be picked up and knows where...
I can't wait to get on to outside toiletting - I live on the edge of a park, but I don't have a garden and this setup is just for 3 week while jabs kick in. I know 3 weeks isn't long, but he's peeing at quite a rate! I haven't shouted, I promise.
We've only been trying to paper train him for a day but there seems to be a definite pattern developing. The wrong way round.
Basically, when I'm sure he must need I take him to the paper where he whines and stares at me then sits down, no pee. When I let him walk off he straight away pees in...
I'm just thinking, given the amount he shivered after washing, I don't reckon he's going to enjoy getting rained on.
If anyone has a really small coat they could sell me (he's only 9" at the moment, it's 3 weeks until he'll be using it so maybe a 10 or 11ish) that'd be great.
Thanks again to...
Ah - Thanks so much for all your friendly advice! Last night was ok. He cried even right next to bed initially but this was partly because he had a surge of energy at midnight having slept all afternoon and evening. I was a weakling in the face of the crying but actually had some success in...
I've seen a few in Lee Valley off Lea bridge rd by canal - could that have been you Cairo?! Thats where I plan to walk/run him, less Hard Man dogs with "bull" in the breed name...
That's quite a weight difference! Hopefully he's compact but healthy. We don't have a garden but live right by big parks in East London so annoyingly paper toilet is the only option until these jabs kick in. Is it stupid to go out for a walk before the 3 week mark the vets advise?
Thanks for your reassurance. I'll keep an eye on him.
He seems to have taken my attempt at paper training the wrong way round! He got it right earlier to ecstatic praise. Since then though, every time I take him to the paper he lies down on it, then as soon as I take him back to the living room...
Hello,
I'm new here and we just brought home our new friend Silas today. Very exciting! He was great for the 2.5 hour car ride home too - quiet and relaxed, I was really surprised.
I went to the vet for 1st injections and they said he was small but healthy - he's 8 weeks but only 2kgs! He is...
