You are the boss, Silas may not be happy, be stressed and whine a lot, but once he learns that you will not be 'conned' by his wiles, I am sure that he will get on with doing what is expected of him. Puppies are like children, their cries can tug at you heart strings!

Thanks Eve - will do! Getting the first sign of progress, both on my part and his.

I'm not a parent yet, but I teach primary school kids music for a living so I completely understand the parallels!!
