This is perfectly true ! PennyLurchers chip stopped working , I was told by the Vet that this is quite common with lurchers as they can break if knocked. Pennys chip had moved to the top of her shoulder and the vet was able to remove it with a blade and a pair of tweezers whilst she stood...

When I went to the vets for wormers they were going to give me milbemax then asked me what dogs I had and when I said I had a lurcher a greyhound and 2 border collies changed it to Drontal cos Milbemax are not recommended for border collies something to do with their genetic make up I believe.

When I was out for a walk this morning I met a man with 2 lurchers and as we were talking I mentioned that PennyLurcher had been limping for the last few days as she had hurt her foot. He said what you want to do is give her some painkillers. He then went on to say he gives his PARACETAMOL...

They certainly do make money from drugs . A local vet charged £25 for a course of Amoxycillin. They actually cost 5p for 10 :(

Up to what age can they be removed ? Two of my dogs which are now 3 years old have both damaged theirs these last couple of weeks running about in the fields (lots of blood (w00t) ) I now have to put bandages round them when they go out :(
