    Boy dogs weeing sitting down

Why do some boy dogs wee sitting down? I understand puppies are learning but I'm now looking after a 3 and a half year old and he does the same thing. Though my 3 year old cavachon wees 'the boys way'. Is it something to do with the upbringing?

    Halti lead?

I have a spaniel a few days a week, 8 months old. He's crazy on his lead. Always wants to be off to run. Though I suppose it may be different with puppies. I think he is getting a little better though. He has a harness, which we attach to the lead. That's better I think, because it's not around...

    Puppy's barking

I figured somebody would mention that :) yes I do know about the age rule. Don't over work the puppy if tired, but he loves to run freely off his lead. Bags of energy.

    Puppy's barking

I think 30 minutes twice a day is quite short, if it is every day. Do you do more at weekends? Do you vary the routes you take him on? for example; take him down the beach some days, woods the next etc. Also does he go off his lead yet? I look after an 8 month old puppy, which is slightly older...

What does your dog get up to when he or she's home alone?

I'm assuming that most dogs that can't behave when their on there own are either in crates or in a room that's dog proofed? but it's an interesting concept.

How do you secure your garden for dog

Its a downstairs flat. Most of it has a large wall around of it. Its just the bit at the bottom with the steps leading up to the gate. Just needs something to cover past the steps I think. Or maybe a dog guard. But I've never really looked into getting any kind of barrier before. Maybe some sort...

How do you secure your garden for dog

Bit concerned about the security of my garden for dogs. Just started boarding dogs. I've had Labradors and they've been fine. I have a main gate. And most of the garden has high walls around as its a downstairs flat but at the end there are steps leading up to the gate. The gate isn't to the...

    Rescue dog seperation anxiety advice

It does sound like he is acting out because he has been left. Very difficult. Coming from a rescue home I suppose you don't know what kind of history he has had. Though guessing not good. Not an expert but I think it will get better over time. Only just got him and he needs to get used to the...

    Breeder contracts

Yes that does sound like quite a nice contract, wanting to ensure it has a happy life. I think when they start putting clauses in about what food they should stick to and how many walks a day they need to have. as a legally binding contract that is too much. People want to buy a puppy and make...

    Any experience with yorkshire terriers?

Thanks. According to the owner the youngest is 2 loves other dogs and pretty outgoing. The other 8 years is more reserved. Likes her own space. She suffers from dry eye and wants me to give her drops a few times a day. She said she's good at having them though. It's just for 4 night's so I am...

    Any experience with yorkshire terriers?

A woman has asked me to board 2 of her yorkshire terriers for 4 nights. I've always thought of them as quite yappy dogs. Does anyone have any knowledge of them or any advice? looking after them end of April. Both girls. One is 8 yrs, one 2 years.

    Breeder contracts

I can imagine they are putting a lot of people off with that contract. I would find another breeder personally. If I was to buy a puppy I would want it to be mine to look after it as I choose. It almost sounds like an 'open adoption'. Our family dog is 3. And as far as I remember she gave us...

    Picking up after your dog

Yes i've also been wondering about the council thing. I put dog poo bags in my bin last night and it was picked up today. But it is a plastic bag, which I thought would have to be put in the plastics. But obviously you cant put the other 'stuff' in a plastic bag. So many rules with the council...

    Outside dog

Thanks for all your comments. The more I'm walking him he does seem very healthy and happy. Though he decided to swim out to sea today and took me a while to get him back. Golden retievers and Labradors are such different breeds to what I'm used to :) so refreshing to look after a dog that...
