    10 puppies and Us

I hope they follow the pups through to adulthood. So many end up in rescue, especially when they are bought for children and the children use interest. I have written, in the past, to my MP suggesting that breeders be required, by law, to take any pup that they breed back if it requires...

    10 puppies and Us

I was very hopeful of the chap with his border collie pup. He seemed very sensible even though he lives in a very small space. For those that are not watching it - he got it to train as a mountain rescue dog. He started off taking advice on the "find it" training and all was going well until the...

Holiday in U.K. with our 4 Rescue Dogs - Help

I have been on the Talking Dogs Scentwork workshops. They are orgainsed by an ex drugs detection dog handler, Pam Mackinnon and her colleagues, and are brilliant. They are organised in levels so that you do level one and go away to  practice it on your own. Then go back for level two, then level...

    Struggling with crate training...

Yes hollysh, it can increase the problem. If they are barking for attention then getting up will make the problem worse. If they are barking for other reasons then that needs to be addressed. The owner seems to know so I would try things like covering the crate, leaving the radio on etc to make...

Holiday in U.K. with our 4 Rescue Dogs - Help

I don't know if you saw the tv programme called Me and My Dog (or similar)? The dog trainer on there is the same one who runs Developing Dogs. She is amazing! I, too, would love to live nearer so that I could attend regularly. I do keep a look out for the workshops that they offer. Scentwork is...

Holiday in U.K. with our 4 Rescue Dogs - Help

Ha Ha Joanne! Ivory and dogs Hmmmm? We bought a roll of Vet Bed and cut it into mats to completely cover our motorhome floor. It can be washed on a hot wash. I now have some in the house by the back door too. All I need to do is teach my husband to stand on it when he takes off his muddy boots...

Holiday in U.K. with our 4 Rescue Dogs - Help

Take a look here   www.developingdogs.co.uk No limit on the number of dogs you can take. I have not been but it comes highly recommended.

    Raw food diet

One of my old dogs was quite badly affected by eating just a small amount of onion dropped on the floor. She became depressed and when I mentioned it at work (I used to work in a vet's) one of the nurses looked it up and said that they can become anaemic. As there is a lot of anecdotal evidence...

Dog with sinus and throat congestion. Help!!

How sad for you. Your boy is at peace now and he had the most amazing life so do take some comfort from that if you can.

    Crufts anyone?

I am not a fan of the Kennel Club but do check out to see what educational content their stand has. A couple of years ago they were putting on seminars that people working in the dog industry could enrol in. That applied to me at the time but I am sure that they did not check my credentials...

    Looking to Adpot Dogs Wanted

Hi, the dog my friend is fostering is a GSP x Collie. She says he is much more Pointer than Collie (she has a Collie). He is not ready to go, yet, though as she is working on his separation anxiety. Crate training is progressing well as are the other aspects of his training. She is aware that...

    Crufts anyone?

As to whether we will go? Not sure yet. I have been several times and it doesn't change much to be honest. Well worth a visit if you have not been before though.

    Crufts anyone?

Does the NEC have camping facilities? Might be worth checking. They certainly do when they have the large Motorhome shows there. There were only so many hook ups available though. We can go several days without hook up so we were fine. Lots of the exhibitors will camp though so book early if...

Dog with sinus and throat congestion. Help!!

If he is as congested as he sounds he may not be a candidate for gas only. Gas may take longer to be absorbed and cleared. On the other hand it may be the best option for his heart etc. Best let the vet decide.

    RIP TEYA

I am sure that, if she could, she would thank you for taking the most difficult decision of all. So sorry for your loss.

    Looking to Adpot Dogs Wanted

Thank you so much for posting. Do you have a website? ( I am sure you are legit but the dog thieves are so devious these days :(  ) There were a couple of likely candidates on my Facebook feed the other day. My fingers itched to click on their details and bring them home. Is size a barrier? I...

Which Pet Insurance Do You Use?

Another one to leave alone is E&L. Not sure if they are still trading or if they have morphed into Animal Friends but they have a terrible reputation.

Dog with sinus and throat congestion. Help!!

I would be asking for a referral to a specialist vet in this field. Yes, your vet has exhausted all avenues that his/her experience allows so now is the time to seek specialist advice. If it were a human we would be seeing Ear/Nose/Throat consultant by now. Remember that you are your dog's...
