I agree with JudyN,give him a treat for breaking off the chase. Look on the brightside,a least it was a pair of swans. The prey drive is so strong in mine sparrows aren't safe.
Personally I wouldn't worry,if the dog seems ok like you say when you leave it for a few hours, why change its routine. It's only a good thing that you can leave it. There will be plenty of times in the future when you have no choice but to leave the dog at home.
Always bought, not through choice,I've tried to adopt but fail the home checks. I've stopped trying to adopt now,but it kills me when I see dogs looking for homes and I know I could give them one.
I was given a Border Terrier pup for my 8th birthday by my grandfather. He told me to look after him and treat him right and he would be the best friend I could ever wish for,and he was right. I've had Border Terriers ever since.
Some may think I was too young at 8 years old,but I was brought up...
It's been rough on the fella, hope he's over the worst of it now.
Makes me glad the vets can use mine as a dartboard .
All the best to you both for a happier day
My old girl is knocking on the door of being 16. I think she as discovered the fountain of eternal youth. She is out on the moors three times a day without fail. This morning she set off running down the footpath, when I caught up with her,she was happily digging a nice hole. She isn't show any...
I agree, they are a sight to behold when they are going full tilt. You can see the enjoyment they get out of it.
I was in heaven, there must of been 30+ lurchers of all shapes and sizes. But I fell in love with a 6 month old Bedlington x Whippet who was there to watch and learn...
Went to watch some lurcher racing at the weekend, people and dogs had come from far and wide. It was a good day out with some good racing. Mind you, there was on occasion some dodgy slipping going on.
I hand strip my border terriers myself, once took one of my dogs for hand stripping and they used clippers on the dog. The swore blind they hadn't but you could see step marks in the fur from the clippers. So never again.
Just another day to me and the dogs,we don't do Christmas at all. But what we have found is that Dales or Lakes are void of visitors. Total bliss having the hills to ones self.
I'm gutted for you both,I know how it's feels. I was so hoping it was going to be a different outcome her.
Stay strong and think of all the great times you had together. Xx
