my whippet gets off the lead on a daily basis down the beach and he has always chased dogs of any shape or size and tried to grab at their necks or ears, seemingly playfully (is this Coursing?). But the last few days has seen him mouthing towards smaller dogs, who in fairness are usually giving...
just wondering what people here do as regards feeding and walking their whippets. Do you feed a while before walking, just before walking, or afterwards. Im wondering if feeding before or after affects their behaviour when out walking, or whats best for the digestive system.
Sounds tempting to have a look at him. Keep in mind that i havnt even mentioned it to the mrs yet. Whereabouts is he Rae? how far from me, in case we decide to take a look.
Fletch could do with a mate to play with, but the mrs isnt too keen at all. ive been dropping hints about getting another but she's afraid it'll be too much for us too soon, not to mention the cost. If anyone remembers, when we were first looking for a whippet (we got fletch), we had thought of...
just found out young Fletch loves, i mean 'loves', crab sticks. What im wondering is, will they do him any harm? I tend to think they put all the rubbish into processed things like that, but then again i maybe worrying too much, if theyr suitable for human consumption, then i dont suppose theyl...
just wondering if aynone here can advise on a decent brush to get for my whippet. i havnt got one so far as i thought he wouldnt need brushing, but im beginning to think he'd enjoy the attention and the soothing feel.
Do your whippets need or enjjoy being brushed?
thanks, mark
we had our heart set on a black n white before we seen fletch. id love another but the mrs would take some persuading. maybe if we seen a few pictures?? hint hint.
Hallo Kitty, im new here also, and was recently asking basically the same sort of questions as you. Ive since gotten a whippet pup and havnt looked back. Ive found him affectionate, intelligent, clean, comforting, not yappy (yet), and funny.
Id read about whippets being a good family pet and...
Yeah that could well be the problem. Never thought of nettles, i assumed they didnt sting dogs.
Funny thing is, now hes started sitting funny, with his leg kicked slightly out to the side. Hes walking fine and jumps on the settee ok, and once again he doesnt seem troubled, maybe the nettles...
We've just came in from a walk in the woods, and Fletch is licking away (and nibbling) at most of his paws. he doesnt seem in any discomfort, and they dont seem to have anything in them as ive checked, but he's not half going at them. Is it a grooming thing (hes only just started doing it), or...
thanks again everyone, maybe ive been giving him too much excercise, i'll cut it down a bit. He loves to run when i let him off the lead, back and forth and he runs with other dogs when on the beach and is often looking very tired afterwards. Maybe instead of a daily beach walk i should make it...
Do whippets definately NEED coats for the winter? Mine hasnt got one yet and i was wondering if i should get one soon, or can they do without (as ive a feeling he'll try his best to get it off before we get out of the house)
