Please help if you are in this area,

Whisp, missing whippet. Lost in the Northwich area of Cheshire (in the Castle/Winnington area).

She is a 'blue' whippet, mainly white with large grey/black patches.

My Grandad lost his wife a few months ago and was devastated to lose his beloved Springer recently. We have just helped him to rehome a whippet, who unfortunately seems to be an escapologist.

She is very happy in the house with my Grandad and visitors but as soon as she gets outside (or anywhere near a door, she has knocked my Grandad over, hit a gate and clipped the wall to get out) she bolts.

She has been missing once already and the police (to whom we are very grateful) found her.

She went missing again today (well Sunday; I think it's just past midnight as I post) at sometime around 8am. There was one possible sighting of her near the large roundabout in the town centre (near National Tyres/LA Fitness) at around lunchtime, we went out but could not find her.

There was a second possible sighting at around 3pm near Somerfield; much nearer to home. Again we could not find her. We are so worried at her being out overnight.

My poor Grandad has been elated, devastated, elated to get her back and devastated again. She is registered with the police and vets, Dog Warden apparently shut due to Bank Hol

If anyone sees her or knows anyone in the area who could look out we would be very grateful.

Please contact 07886401433 any time; or my family's numbers are on her collar if found.

This was posted on my behalf by a member from the Dog Pages site; (Thank you :D )

I'd just like to add a photo of Whisp in case it helps....

good luck ,hope shes found soon :luck: :luck: :luck:

everyone's worst nightmare :( hope she is found quickly  :luck:

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Still no news on Whisp; she is registered with just about every site/authority etc we can think of.

It was probably a lonely night for her; at this point we're crossing everything that she still returns especially before everyone goes back to work tomorrow. Hoping that in some ways no news is good news as she hasn't been found injured or anything. :(

Wishing you lots of luck for her safe return :luck: :luck: :luck: she has distinctive markings so she should be spotted easily  :luck:

Just to update; Whisp was spotted by some local dog walkers who recognised her from a poster we had put up. She was on an area of scrubland/countryside and was apparently just "sat there"!

Unfortunately by the time they got back to the poster and called my family and then everyone went back out looking she was nowhere to be seen

However at least we know she survived the night; she has travelled across town so seems to be reasonably road savvy.

We are obviously going to continue with our search, putting more posters up all the time and hope that she doesn't go too far from the last sighting.

The Dog Warden will be available from tomorrow after the Bank Hol as well so that's one more thing.

Thanks for your well wishes

I pray you find her soon :luck: :luck: :luck:

ooo dear god, hope shes found safe and well soon :luck: :luck: :luck:

:luck: I really hope you get some good news very soon :luck:

UPDATE

Another Whisp update; She is alive but not yet home, being a little tinker (I know all this location info is useless to people out of the are but just in case anyone reading is close by).

There was one possible sighting of her near the large roundabout in the town centre (near National Tyres/LA Fitness) at around lunchtime on Sunday, we went out but could not find her. She has since been seen yesterday afternoon on the scrubland off Warrington Road/Witton behind KFC and B&Q she has then been seen again today near KFC.We have been going out looking for her a few times a day plus each time there is a sighting but to no avail I am in Sheffield today but my parents and Grandad are going out again this evening we are hoping she is staying in the same area near KFC/B&Q. My Mum and Dad live much nearer to KFC than my Grandad so if there are any sightings in this area they can get there very quickly. We are crossing our fingers we get her back soon.Luckily the Dog Warden is available now the Bank Hol is over which is another help.

Mum and Dad went out again this evening and came across Whisp in this same area yet again. She kept coming towards my Dad, and then turning away, coming again and so on until she was about 50 yards away- this went on for some time until she bolted. My Mum was calling her name and she kept turning to look but they couldn't catch her I guess that's the downside to a whippet, very good sprinters! We're also struggling on this as she was SO recently rehomed she barely knows them or my Grandad. She seems to have made her home in this area. We're really at a loss what to do to catch her. She has such a loving home waiting for her and the little tinker just keeps on doing her own thing!!

We have looked at some behavioural tips online for catching her and hope to put these into practice tomorrow. Just hoping she is home soon :ermm:

xx

I have been following Whisp's updates on doglost, I hope she is reunited with her family soon, it's good news that there have been sightings of her and fingers crossed that she is caught soon and back home, sending lots of :luck: :luck: :luck:
