Westhoughton Greyhound Track

Put us down Vicky!! We have good memories of W/h/ton. Lot's of peds & lot's of non-peds & we all got along. When you say a few quid just how much are we talking or does that depend on entries?

Terry

Vicky i would love to attend has the lure been sorted out as last time i was there it was continually breaking and after waiting for about three hours they just called it a day and even the greyhounds never got a run.

Hi Vicky,

like I said Im up for sending my 2 boys round. Please keep me posted.

Cheers,

Scott.

The charge will be depending on how many dogs we get, this is why i'm really pushing it!!!  I am going to put some flyers out (that's where you might come handy terry!!) and see if we can attract a few others (peds, non-peds & lurchers) also ads in local papers and Countryman's Weekly!

Steve,  as far as i know the lure is ok now, we've been a few weekends and there have been no problem - they have now stopped running to the inside hare as they were having constant problems so now they only use the outside.

Scott, you had better set off now!!!!

Vicky,

you're cheeky! I'm not that much of a blind hedgehog.

Terry,

thanks for the email, I think I can follow it.

Cheers,

Scott.

We have got a start date of Saturday 9th November gates to open 1pm.

We will be running of time as i think i have said before and will be timing the dogs in on the first day and the following weeks run a handicap.

We will start by running every other saturday and depending on the turnout will choose to run less or more frequently.

Hope yo see you there !!! :D

Just to remind everyone the first race day at Westhoughton is this Saturday!!! Hope to see you there!

I have set up a new page for Westhoughton WRC and plan to post results etc.

Thanks to everyone who turned up today, it was nice to meet Mark Roberts (THE Mark Roberts) & Scott Frodsham (who set off yesterday) i will have to try and have a proper chat with the pair of you next time.

ahhhhhhhhhh the lovely Vicky, What can I say ??? it was worth going today just to see you :b

and then there was the equaly lovely Michelle who being a Lady of taste was shocked I looked so young (hounest) :D

The red dog in the first race went very well was that Fluke?

hope to have got some nice shots of dogs coming out of the traps if any turn out any good i'll scan and post them, (still learning with the thing)

will come down again next time for a few more pics & a chat.

should I bring my drag lure just in case :(

Hope you managed to get some decent piccy's Mark, you should have managed to get mine coming out of the traps because they're that slow you can't miss em.

The Red jacketed dog was Coral who has the same owner as Fluke, but yeah he did go round really well.

As for the hare ........ I'm not saying nothing, it could only happen to us!

A good write up about Westhoughton tonight in our local rag - i will try & post it later.

The track (after umpteen rumours) has now been leased for 8 yrs & will be re-named Bolton & Westhoughton Greyhound Stadium, the new owners have promised countless changes & they have already enquired about getting the whippets back on.
