Warning to all and a lesson learnt.

Lurcherman, please think deeply before you submit a kneejerk post. Ask yourself whether your missives can be considered as inconsiderate, offensive or just plain hubristic

Brooke will be seen again by the vet on Friday. She is more of herself as the week goes on. Take care all. Look after your four legged friends.
Please will you let us know how she gets on?

Knee jerk post,, how soft are people nowadays ,, geez you make me laugh if nothing else ,

I'll stand up to being soft - but not to make anyone laugh @lurcherman. My little dog is one of the most important things in my life, I'd be devastated if anything happened to him. I'll be inconsolable when I lose him, but I'd be far worse if someone's drug laced vomit had caused him to be so seriously unwell first.

Please try to feel some empathy.

Glade ya dogs gonna be ok. People should be more careful. Just on a side note, magic mushrooms have just been out ... September to the middle of October.

We took Brooke to the vet yesterday to have her ears treated for an infection. About an hour later I walked her on a local field which a lot of dog walkers use. I caught her eating vomit and in all fairness to her she stopped when I told her to. All seemed fine until about an hour later when she seemed disoriented-not walking straight, eyes peering and just totally out of character. We talked about it and thought that there could be a temporary imbalance due to her ear treatment. I phoned the vet who agreed with my thoughts. What I didn't mention was the vomit. We were going to let her sleep and hopefully be better for it. The wife said she looked drugged up. I was straight back on the phone to the vet. They asked us to get her to them asap. We did so and they admitted that she could die. She stayed overnight on a drip. They told us that they nearly lost her during the afternoon.
Come 9pm we were informed that she was responding and 'out of the woods' She's back home now as if nothing had happened!
The main message is that the vomit almost certainly deposited by a drug user.
Keep an eye on your dog as much as possible when you are out.
yeah thats awful experience, but thanks that your dog is safe now.

Joanna, for the love of god I’ve lost a lurcher to poison in 2002!!! He said his dog is home and safe,, sounds like his dog had the munchies,, I loved my dogs and did everything for them and they did about everything possible to have a great life, everybody who actually knows me knows that, I’d die for them, so all I said is haha your dog has the munchies,, really bad person I am ! Really wow,, if people are that shallow and upset on that then I’m totally lost ,, anyway it wasn’t meant to upset,, like I say again I’ve actually been through the hurt of losing a dog through poison, she bravely fought it for 3 days then picked up a high temp and died, she was that fit and nearly beat it so,

I think maybe we all need to remember that the light and shade of communication is lost when we only have things written, and we lose the tone of voice and body language that would normally support the message.

@Jjohnd , I'm just glad she seems on the road to recovery.

Ok but I’d said I’d lost a lurcher I also said glad the dog was home and safe, post has been over blown out of proportions I think, anyway not saying a word more on this thread .

Lurcherman, please read this missive carefully. I’m sure that we all feel your loss. Likewise we’ve all been devastated by the loss of our pets BUT we do not feel that such devastation gives us license to treat others with insensitivity - it’s not kind.

What insensitivity? For saying the dogs got the munchies which was prob the truth, what a world we live in so sensitive over nothing, bit of backbone needed instead of waffling on about,, well nothing, so keep waffling on as I’m away from this thread ,,

With due respect, lurcherman, in the light of the tone of your previous missives, perhaps it would be more beneficial for most if you considered being away from this website.

Let's get back to the important point in this thread, which is Brooke's health. Any other posts are very likely to be deleted.

Quite right, apologies from this quarter at least.

Personally I don't see what @lurcherman as done wrong. Ya he mentioned the munchies, but as was said it was brought up by the vet. He's only wished the dog well in his posts.

Agreed let’s move on, apologies for the word I used beginning with b , anyway the dogs is well and at home

Lurcherman, I have followed the posts and realize that you meant well. I was gutted about the dog and misinterpreted your post. Apologizes.

Thank you for the apology, Lurcherman, and for accepting it, Jjohnd:)
