Have to phone the vet at nine so will know more and what the out come should be. Smartie his brother slept with us and was very good, he is a bit sub-dued, but eating etc. It's Pete that is the more complex of the two, he is very reliant on us and his brother, he needs lots of support :huggles: .
Will keep you up-dated, thanks for the good wishes and advice.
Good luck with the specialist. :luck: My little Stanley seems just like Pete - he too is very dependent on me but it does amaze me that when I go away for some reason or another he just latches on to the next person - so Pete is probably a bit tougher than you realise :huggles:
I hope he's coping alright, let us know how he gets on :huggles:
We have to wait again and ring at 4, they might not operate until tomorrow, my one concern is dehydration as he has been without since yesterday and I don't know if he has had a wee. Will discuss this with the vet tonight. Best that could happen is they can manipulate it back and splint it (my vets were not successfull) worse out come is they will have to fuse the joint and pin and plate his leg , he is only 4 this year poor little boy
My other dog is missing his brother and is very subdued . He is having lots of fuss.
It was good to see Pete he wagged his tail when he saw us all and then fell asleep on my lap as we drove to the specialist. :huggles:
:luck: :luck: Hopefully the specialist will be able to manipulate it in, they will be so much more experienced in this than your vet. :huggles: to Pete & Smartie
Oh, I am so sorry........It is so traumatic when they are injured......I'm sure he will be fine. They will give him intravenous fluids if he is becoming dehdrated. Do keep us updated.
I dont think they'll fuse the joint without giving it a chance will they?
I know it's hard but stay positive. leia had a plate and almost 20 pins in her leg as it was totally shattered at one point it was so bad that we thought it would need to be amputated but she now has 85% moveomtn in her wrist and runs like the clappers again. It took 5 months in all to heal up.
Take it one day at a time and hope for the best. Good luck to Pete. :luck:
Have to ring the vets again in the morning, Pete should be having his op tomorrow, discussed, food, water and him having a wee :- " . Told he his settled, so that's something. Smartie his brother is like a shadow, he is joined to me ) , feeling lost so lots of cuddles, :huggles:
:luck: :luck: Pete :huggles: .......Just remember how tough and determined Whippets are, they over come things so easily as they are such a gritty little breed (or should that be bloody minded )......... :huggles: :huggles: and :* :* to Pete and Smartie ........ :luck:
