Dogs can't digest raw carrot,but it will not harm them & they love to gnaw on them.To gain the full nutritional value from vegetables,they need to be pulverised,ie,put through a juicer.

If you are looking for a kibble, just be sure to go with a premium food, no filler, and good sources of protein in the first 5 ingredients. Avoid foods with grain fragments, beef tallow, BHT, BHA, by products and so on.

Jax, I had been giving him carrots until a couple of weeks ago, but at a recent race meeting someone told OH carrots were poisonous to dogs and he shouldn't have them (w00t)

Must say I had never heard this before, but had stopped giving them to him

Am confused now :wacko: - what are the views on this please.

My last IG was overweight so treats were out, but she loved carrots raw or otherwise and she lived to a good age. In fact, thinking back, it was my vet who suggested I give them to her. I have never her of them being poisonous to dogs.

I feed my dogs Redmills Racer it's around £11 for 15kg and in my opinion you cannot buy better. My dogs coats shine all year round. I feed it soaked in luke warm water on it's own. I've yet to find a better food for the same price.

Has anyone used the Vitalin Bitch Diet? I've heard good reports on it, but haven't used it. At £30 a bag I think its' over-priced compared to other good makes. As for carrots, mine are fed them occasionally together with other veggies, and I don't think they've had any ill effects. I wonder if someone dreams up these theories.
