I was the one that posted about dog cough she's 14 in 4 months he put her on medrole still coughs tooke her back 2 weeks later he's put her on medrole plus fusermide does he suspect a heart problem as he said he heart was fine when he listened

Do you mean furosemide? Maybe if you give your vet a call he would be happy to chat through his reasons for prescribing it?

He won't say anything apart from dog asma but it said was for heart liver disease failure to reduce liquid from the lungs I'm not sure if he's just guessing what's wrong

Furosemide is used to reduce fluids but there could be several reasons for the fluids building in the first place. If you aren't confident with his diagnosis, could you ask for a second opinion?

Ask for a heart scan? Or some other form of diagnostic. The vet is probably just trying to go by the symptoms your dog has presented with and prescribing till he get it right:(

Dont see why he would keep her on the medrole tablets too when they didnt work they have some bad side effects these tablets dont want to do her more harm than good he only offered tablets no scan so she on medrole been in two weeks and the fusermide I suppose he will scan if still dont work

She's still coughing same thing happened when she went on the first lot of tablets she seemed to improve for a few days same thing now after going on this second tablet seened to improve for few days liquid is coming up with the hacking cough

.

Get a 2nd opinion - ASAP, would be my suggestion. :)
If U can swing it financially, i’d ask for a referral to a k9 cardiologist / veterinary cardio.

I would want a chest x-ray to look for fluid in her lungs, & to see if her heart is markedly enlarged; a chest ultrasound, or an ECG / EEG, might also be very informative.

Did Ur vet do a full blood panel? - liver & kidney enzymes, CBC, hematocrit, white blood cells, etc? —- those data points might be helpful, too. If she has poor cardio function, that can have a downstream effect on other major organs, & how well they can function, in their turns.

Cardiac insufficiency with an enlarged left auricle is pretty common, in senior dogs, & the side effect of accumulating fluids in the lungs can often be controlled by Rx meds, if it’s caught early enuf.

All digits crossed, & please let us know what the vet diagnoses, & what they recommend as treatment? Thinking of U,
