Well why is it that whippets hate having there toe nails trimmed, I don't know about any one else but man do I have a fight on my hands when ever the dremel comes out.

Check out how Guinness is hanging on LOL.

That is such a funny pic :) I must be really lucky - my laid back pooches let me do theirs while they are asleep! :)

that's not happiness

I trimmed 7 whippets today. The worst was my new girl from NZ. I did 6 in the same amount of time it took to do her nails. I don't use a dremmel, just the ole regular kind.

I use gerber baby nail clippers on whippy babies so they dont' scratch the bejeebus out of the dams belly.

edit: bee cuz I carnt speel

I use a dremel on the old dog and clippers on the younger one. Neither like it but they lay there and put up with it!!

Have found most of my dogs have been difficult over their feet to start with, but frequent foot / nail touching, then using the clippers near but not actually on the nails with loads of rewards and praise for everything tolerated usually overcomes the problem. Although not always I currently have a three year old who still hates having her feet done :( although at least she no longer tries to bite the hand touching  which is what she did as a baby, hopefully by time she is a veteran she will be as relaxed as the others when it comes to pedicure time

I dunno.... my Layla was great as a youngster but she is getting much worse as she gets older ... she even squeals now and not because it hurts - just because she wants to make me think I've hurt her, so she can hopefully get out of it. But I will not be fooled anymore....

My others are all good - they lay down on top of the trolley and I cut with clippers (the ones that work with the sideways action of a pair of scissors, not the ones that cut 'vertically') and generally speaking it is an easy job.

Is that the grinding stone you are using to dremel the toes? If so I bet you'll have less complaints if you switch to the fine sanding drum. Although you'll go through the sanding bits a lot more, it doesn't heat up as much as the stone does. So using the stone can be quite hot and painful on their toes, and the sanding drum is less so.

Having said that - Guinness actually looks quite chilled there to me LOL - I know he's probably hanging on for dear life but he looks relaxed. I'm also impressed you are able to do them in that position. Mine would have twisted out of that. I need to pin them between my legs and sometimes have hubby at the other end to act as a stabilizer. But for the most part mine are pretty good with it.
