Thoughts on the johnny depp case

You may or may not have seen the case johnny brought against the sun and the verdict on monday was that he lost and can be called a wife beater.

I wanted to start by saying when amber heard accused depp in 2016 , i did not take a side i wanted to wait for more evidence and in 2018 when johnnys evidence started to come out i was shocked to see the photos of him on a hospital bed with his finger chopped off and burns to his face. And the audios of her gaslighting him. From all the evidence from his side it was clear who was the victim and it was not amber heard.

I am a surviour of DV and feel so strongly about this , her photos do not look as real to me as his and the way she spoke to him in the audios is not how a DV victim speaks to there abuser , if i spoke like that to my abuser he would have killed me.

When i listen to those audios depp sounds more like how i and other DV victims do trying to calm the abuser , heard was the aggressive one in those tapes.

Most victims want to keep there abuser calm and not provoke them and will feel like walking on eggshells around them being careful what they say. They would not degrade and gaslight there abuser for fear of getting beaten or killed

I am not a fan of johnny by the way i made my observations based on my own experience of being a DV surviour and based on all the evidence that is out there.

I do not belive he is a wife beater , i believe he is a victim of DV and as men are not belived like woman she will get away with what she has done. Amber has a history of abuse on 2 other people as well but the media never report this and never show the public the photos he has of proof she abused him

I knew he would loose this case being libel, and the judge is friends with ambers lawyer as well. Most of what the judge said is not true like him saying he chopped his own finger off even though theres tapes of a Dr saying have you seen what she did. But he did not listen to the tapes depp had as he said there irreverent

I knew he would not win because this is about the headline "depps a wifebeater" and you can be classed as one even if you hit a woman once and self defence still counts. Depp admitted to headbutting her once in self defence and that was enough for him to loose his case.

The suns lawyer was clever as was heard using his drug use , which i dont agree with , against him. Many people take drugs and dont hit there partners and amber does drugs and drink too.

I just wanted to know your thoughts on this?

I know justice will be served one day.

I haven't followed the case at all so couldn't comment on it directly. It's frustrating if it's all about simple definitions of terms, though, as most people will read far more into it than that.

My deepest sympathies go out to all victims of domestic abuse, though, regardless of level of society, gender, and anything else. Particularly now, where the pandemic has made many people's situations even harder.

Thank you Judy, DV has gone up since covid and i feel for every victim and will always stand by any victim famous or not.

Whats interesting is i have not found one DV surviour like me who believes amber , every singles DV surviour i speak with says in the audios heard reminds them of there abuser.

Its is based on a term , the sun called him a wife beater without evidence and he took them to court and the judge disgarded all of johnnys evidence including audios of her admitting hitting him and not promising she wont hit h in the future.

She also said in another audio "tell them johnny , i johnny depp am a victim of DV too and see how many people believe or side with you"

Hearing her say that made me feel sick as its what abuser told me that no one will believe me.

Hes appealing and hes has a case in the US against her were there will be a jury who will listen to the audios and see all his evidence which the UK judge did not do. The judge here also has links to amber through her lawyer.

Hes announced today that he has lost the role of grindlewald which im angry that he loses roles but she keeps them.

Its so heartbreaking for me to see that male victims are never believed.

SaraE, well done to you for surviving your ordeal, dealing with it and coming out the 'other end'! This is an area I wish to specialise in with my Equine Assisted Learning, and it was good to hear (read) you were able to detect the intonation in the tapes! this is so often omitted by the media!

JudyN is correct on the fact that the law, basically is an ASS! All terms and no common sense or, in deed a sense, sadly, of right or wrong! They only want to win and get more money, that is what that is all about in court! There has been an exponential increase in DV/Abuse since the start of the Pandemic. Fortunately more people are aware, and able to recognise signs, and there is more help around now too.

I have followed the case a bit and my personal opinion is that the relationship as a whole sounded very toxic.
It seems like there was suffering and wrong from both sides. Even harder with it being such a high profile case watching both of their personal lives be pulled apart by the media.

I don’t know who is right or wrong but it seems sad that the paper has been allowed to call him a wide beater and it’s cost him his livelihood

Thank you for your kind words. The audi i heard took me right back to my own abuse when i was listerning to amber in those audios , i was in tears by the end as it brought it all back.

I know the truth and that is that he is not a wife beater and she certainly in no vicyim of DV like she claims and it sickens me she is pretending to be a DV victim to someone like me who has lived it and survived it.

I will be sticking by depp even though im not a fan of his films im sticking by him as a surviour of DV
