Yes you are meant to keep the ear dry for 2-3 weeks ....but as my Jacob systematically cleans all the pups ears after they've been done   ....and all 3 litters seem to have survived with tattoos fully intact ;) .....I think its more for the breeds of dogs that even as pups will play and lies down in water :) .....Though my Rubes also plays and lies in water (w00t)

just a quick update!!!!! jacob had his tattoo monday and to be honest the actual tattooing was all done within a second and it took longer rubbing the ink in afterwards which jacob seemed to enjoy :huggles: ,there was a element of pain cause he did cry out but mine have also cried out having the microchip implanted .

heres a couple of pics afterwards.

I couldn't stand having mine tattoo'd.... Jacques was because he'd been done before he came to live with us.

I couldn't stand a tattoo myself and so my views go to the dogs as well.

Not saying there is anything wrong in it, but each to their own :D

I had Ben done yesterday... chipped that is.... he cried a bit but was over in seconds and had a chewy from the vet which he was most pleased about.

Look at his little face

He doesn't seem to have come to any harm having it done.

It's more like stamping than a tattoo isn't it.

So is it still needles or like on a cows bum and hot and it burns in.... if that makes sense?

I hate needles.... I had to leave Ian hold Ben last night as I turn green :x

a pets tattoo is completeley different from a humans ,its more of a stamp then anything else.it lasts 1second the same as a chip.so if you wouldnt have a tattoo would you have a chip inserted in between your shoulder blades .

well there must have some short sharp points to break the skin, but they must be so tiny because they dont go through the ear altogether.

and any pain they may feel would be from the gadget squashing the ear for the second that it lasts.
