I have taken the plunge and decided to leave my current reasonably well paid if some what stressful job and start a dog walking and future home boarding business. I have done the majority of prep, including website, flyers, business cards and have a fully kitted out van ready to go. But the current stumbling block is deciding on the business name (which will then be added to the above), opinions or alternative ideas would be much appreciated. The current shortlist consists of the following:

- I take the dogs out
- Waggy workouts
- New Leash of Life
- Wags A lot
- Wagnificient
- Dogtopia
- Dogs R Us
-Cloud K9

All would be followed by dog walking/ home boarding services.

Cheers

I like New Leash of Life and Cloud K9, though there's a few good names there. Do check there's nothing with the same or similar name in your area - there seem to be a number of 'Cloud K9's around. I'm not sure of the legal aspects of using another company's name, and it could also make it harder to get the web address you'd like.

I must say waggy workouts sounds like dog aerobics! Dogs R us.. too naff..

I like the New leash of life and Wags a Lot .. As @JudyN says check you local area/yellow pages to see if there are any others with similar names you dont want to loose business because of a rogue trader who sounds similar or get into any rows with people after youve had everything printed..

I like Waggy workouts personally :)

I wonder who usually decides on which dog walker to hire? Is there a common type of persona? Young female, or older male, or a teenager, for example?

If it’s usually the mother or the kids - then perhaps all such cute names are fine.

But in my old age, if I had the list above in front of my eyes, plus a line saying something like “London Dog Walking and Pet Sitting Company” - I would probably call this one first. So I don’t have to extend mental energy imaginging what “Wagnificent” translates to in terms of services provided.

Just an old geezer’s 2 pence worth, I guess... :)

“London...” would sound especially good to me if I were in a place far away from London, would imply that this is a really big multi-city company. Perhaps with Big Ben and a Corgy as the logo. :)

Maybe ‘Dogtopia Pet Services’? Or one of the other names with ‘pet services’ added on the end to make it more clear - like Ari_RR was saying.

Best to do your market research and see what works!

I came across a groomer's called 'Doggie Style' the other day - which is clever, but might put some people off!

:D:D:D but also

OMG I just googled... The bus with big letters ' doggie style grooming' makes the mind boggle!

.

I’m going to vote for Wagnificent! - dog-walking & in-home boarding.
:)

As long as U have an explanatory tag-line, a catchy name is easily recalled, distinctive, & fun.
Let’s face it, “Charley’s Dog Wash” is a lot less memorable than “Bubbles & Squeak dog-grooming”. :D

I like I Take The Dogs Out. Does what it says on the tin.
Good luck in your new venture, nothing like breaking free from the office!
