His name is Runaway Romeo....sire/Airescot Ruby Rascal.....Dam/Funk Soul SisterWhat is his registered name and the name of his sire and dam? It would be interesting to look on the whippet archives an see his pedigree.OWhich is why I gave up showing. 17 years ago I had 2 pups Shalfleet/Nimrodel lines who were both correct size, and I was told not to bother with Champ shows as they were too small. Those were the days when I saw your mum and dad at all the shows Jenny.I know they are not old fashioned but that sadly is what people call them! They also get called English whippets?? Having shown a correct sized dog for the past few years I do get a little tired of people telling me he is small, he isn't small he is the correct size.I really liked the Samarkand whippets. My daughter surprised me today by saying that my old 10 year old fawn bitch Poppy, looked like a Shalfleet. She grew up with whippets and came to shows with me. Barbara was in the ring then showing her dogs. I never thought of Poppy in that way, but looking at her I can see what my daughter means. She is by Rivedo Run Don't Fly, out of Poachyn Camelia. They both go back down to Shalfleets and all the old lines that todays folk should look at. There were some beautiful whippets about then. However, most came from big kennels who could afford to run a big show team.It is very different today, but we should consider what the dog we plan to use has behind him and also what his progeny is like. We should study pedigress way back, because you can get throw backs.
Enough rambling.
My Dale who just turned 9 is out of Poachyn Camelia !!!!!........CH. Walkabout Woodpecker of Rivedo,CH. Shalfleet Silent Wish,CH. Nimrodel Eagle Wings,Rystone Blue Magpie etc, and on his Sire side CH. Shoalingham,Barmoll,Poachyn Pot Black, more Shalfleet.........all the good old fashion lines.
Can I just comment here that those are older lines but they are NOT old fashioned lines. I can show you lots of examples on The Whippet Archives of dogs of 40 or 50 years ago I would love to take into the ring now, one example being Ch Cockrow Tarquogan of Glenbervie, have a look and tell me you couldn't picture him in the ring now and he was born in 1963.

Jenny
To be honest I think we should look a little more at some of these dogs and maybe head back that way in size. :-
Hi Jenny sorry if i,ve put that incorrectly :- ..........i meant the correct size, and i get the same thing Anne, saying he's too small..........but he is the correct size
Think my dog is the "show bred" referred to in the post about sussex longdogs.........I tried my hand at showing {pretty poorley I might add} but he always looked small compared to most others and yet he is 20 ins tts and weighs 30lb...I really am no expert but isn't that correct size?
i found your girl jenny wren of rystone on the whippet achives a typical whippet
