Timber has a sprained elbow, he has had a slight limp; just some of the time but it's been about 6 weeks now. Most people don't notice but I do. The vet says he is pretty confident that it is a sprain and not anything with long term implications. He has been on restricted exercise and Metacam. He is improving but its not quite better yet. The vet, who is known locally as being a 'dog' man, suggested chondroitin so I have also started him on that (it's a chondroitin and glucosamine complex). I have been reading about Golden Paste so I have made up a batch of that too. Is it ok to use along with the other things? Has anyone had good results? I was really hoping he would be better by now, am I being impatient? Thanks in anticipation.

Has he done x-rays? I had a similar injury to my whippet and the vet sent the x-rays to a specialist ( in Fife) for assessment. The treatment was lead exercise only - it took 2 years to recover fully as each time he was allowed off the lead he strained it again.

Not yet. He seems fairly confident it will get better with meds, I was just hoping to speed it along with the golden paste.

I use golden paste for both my dogs and saw a massive improvement in my old boy . The other thing you may want to look at is a supplement called supple and sprightly by Vince the vet . it is all ethically sourced ingredients and it it the new generation of supplements for joint and ligament problems . its full of hydrogonised collagen ..and can be used alongside other supplements like golden paste and things like you move . My youngster has HD :( .. and we have noticed a huge difference in the way she moves with this .
