and i have tried it and it works,

but you cant buy some grit which is completely they don't like that either

Thanks Debbie b, but i haven't got what you might call one specific plant, i mean all over the garden, some dogs down here are getting lung worm, caused by slugs and because my dogs do eat grass in the garden i'm a bit worried they might get it, I can under stand that the copper pipe would work on say my rose bush (what's left of it after the green flies and stick insects had a munch) :lol: but i think the dogs would object to toooo much pipe. :thumbsup: Di

I use an organic, pet-friendly slug bait - it is called 'Growing Success Advanced Slug Killer' and it comes from Trelawney Garden Centre here in Wadebridge. Apparently, they eat the little blue pellets and 'crawl into the ground or a secluded location to die'. I like the way it makes them tidy themselves up before they die! Anyway, I 've never had any problems with it re: dogs and children, but I still do have some slugs - they have not been obliterated completely!

I love Trelawney - we seem to go there at least once a week for the restaurant - my kids love having scones and watching the swans on the lake! If Carnon Downs has nothing for slugs we might see you there!

I was going to try Goonhavern Garden center first because it's on my way to Rose, (the lost church) were i run the dogs most mornings, so it's on route as you might say. :thumbsup: but today i forgot to take the piece of paper with me and i couldn't remember the name of it, :lol: so i will have another go tomorrow. Still got me beer traps out though they seem to be working but very slowly,( well they are slugs and I think most of them are males.) (w00t) :- di

I hate those big orange buggers, they can be huge. Keep on with the beer, it does work!!!!!!!!!! Another thing to try is half a grapefruit skin with solid meths under it. I don't know if you can still get it, used in lamps I think. Camping shop might know.

hey hun, i would use bitter or ale instead of larger cos its more hoppier so attracts them better. also the level of beer in ur traps is too low, they can use the bottom to get too the sides and crawl out, gets some deeper traps or use a standerd dog food tin so they cant gain purchase to get them selfs out.

I'm only using what ever i can bum off my good friends, :lol: haven't spent a penny yet. :b but i agree with you about my pots these were full in the morning, :unsure: Thanks for the advise. (i will win this battle) ) actually i'm secretly enjoying it. di don't tell them slugs thou. :lol:
