Shy Puppy

What a handsome little boy- i'm sure he just needs time- sounds as if he is starting to settle. where abouts in London are you?- there are a few of us who meet in the brockwell/battersea/wimbledon area.anne
Hi Anne , I am in Se16 Rotherhithe area. Do you all meet in a park ?

Oh Eddy's a little gem Michael. As lots of people have said, once he starts to find his feet in his new home, you'll be wishing for the quiet version back! If you do decide to let him sleep on your bed though, make sure it's something your happy to have him do for all time, as once they get a taste of that, they dont go much on having to sleep back downstairs again! Please keep those pictures coming, we could look at Eddy all day long!
Yep he definitely coming out of his shell now. I took him to the vets this morning for his innoculation and when he got back home he was so glad to see the labradors that he did frantic playing for half an hour ( back to sleep now though ) o:)

What a handsome boy. Glad to hear that he's coming out of his shell now. Just out of interest was he reared in a family home or in outbuildings or a kennel ... that can make a huge difference to how quickly a whippy baby will adapt to new surroundings.

As others have said though ... enjoy the quiet while it lasts!

He was raised indoors with 8 in the litter and his mum and dad . The breeder had 3 young children so i think he was quite well socialised.

Toadys weather really seems to have perked him up :)

Hi there

Your boy is absolutely stunning, good luck with him, :)

A gorgeous puppy - I love his dark mask.   I am sure he will settle in no time and find his feet. :luck: :luck:

Sooooooo cute! our little Frankie doesnt like going to bed on his own either - the little minx,.!just asked for any tips and found your topic been having a read, the early mornings are murder its like when we had our two children except we cant put seasame street on for Frankie.

Its seems he has you well trained already ,sleeping on the bed with you

One thing for sure ,hes not going to be like a labrador . all pups are different and whippets can be mental at times too , but the two breedsare like chalk and cheese , but it dosnt mean they will not have a great life together

and welcome to K9

that last photo is gorgeous - look at the length of those lovely legs

Just watched U tube and the gorgeous Eddie - what were you saying about shy, retiring, nervous? He didn't take long to find his paws and I just loved your two labs, one swipe from one of those tails and puppy would have been orbited but they were so gentle. Hope he's sleeping for you -_-

Love the video.   Your labs look so good with him. :) :)

They all get on so well , I was a bit worried about Jess because she is 13 and very set in her ways but Eddy has learnt to leave her alone when she has had enough . Dexter on the other hand has had a new lease of life and has turned into a 7 year old puppy !!! :D

Just watched the video - wish I'd have taken more when ours first came home as they grow so quickly. Eddy is adorable and I love the way your labs have taken to him. We crate trained ours at night and they were brilliant after the first night or two, but by the time they got to about 5 months they weren't happy in there and we made the decision to let them sleep on my son's double bed with him. We've never looked back! Son loves it, whippets love it!

Best of luck with Eddy and keep the pics coming! This is how quickly they grow :)

Ours at eight weeks:

Your video is great and Eddy is so lovely and so are your labs  they look so gentle with him.

He's gorgeous, what an appealing little face  ! If you don't want him in the bed with you you could try what I did with Luna... she used to cry a bit at night. I put the crate right beside my bed so I could put my hand down to her when she cried and that seemed to settle her back down. Lost count of the night I woke up with pins and needles because my arm was hanging out of the bed. I need not really have bothered because she now sleeps in my daughter's bed under the duvet with our other whippet, how she can sleep with two pointy noses and 8 pokey feet in a narrow single bed I'll never know (w00t) !
