did you figure out what was wronge or has it just righted it's self?

Sorry June, I missed that one off the list, it was:

"Blues Trophy" Best opposite sex to the winner of the Manseburn Trophy :Lindsay's Trystlands Sweet Sherry of Manseburn.

How is your brave little Blue these days?  Still racing about with her gammy leg I hope.

Having seen a lot of Blue this summer and heard how she came to live with June, I can say she has amazed me by the way she copes with her gammy leg. It doesn't seem to hinder her hardly at all. I think she's just brilliant and so lucky to have found June & Donald to live with.

Hi Liz - many thanks for the info - congrats to the winner.

Thanks Judy for your lovely comments about Blue, and Liz thanks for your enquiry about her - as Judy has confirmed, I can say Blue is well and very lively and still running around like a puppy.  We do still handslip her, and she loves her racing, she gets so excited we have to muzzle her or we can't get the lure back, or it is destroyed!! We ran her at the evening Whippet Racing meeting in the final fun 'pet's race' at Cornwall during the summer - there was a lovely big crowd and she stormed up the track and grabbed the lure and refused to let go!  The noise and excitement of it all quite turned her head and she was in overdrive for the rest of the night!!! Despite our initial fears, she has not suffered any problems to date with her spine or associated problems like arthritis and with the use of 'New Skin' we have now managed to hardened off her back feet so she no longer needs to wear boots.  So we are delighted she has gone on so well.  She is probably even more of a mad hatter than when you knew her Liz!!  and the biggest softie we have got - we always say Blue doesn't sit with you or on you - you 'wear' her!  Despite her treatment at the hands of her previous owners, she loves everyone and bears no grudges - she never ceases to amaze Donald & I and really does prove just how much courage and determination whippets have and how they overcome adversity to lead a 'normal' life. I often get stopped when I'm out with her and people ask what happened and are stunned by her friendliness and agility.  As you can tell, Blue is our star!

Thanks Judy - that sums her up VERY well!!

I always find it surprising she doesn't damage her gammy leg whilst rushing around - but the vet assures me that due to the fusion of the bones it is actually probably much stronger than the average whippet leg!!  It certainly can be lethal under the duvet, especially the hooked nail on other leg with the club foot!!  Bless her heart!  But she's so happy and totally without pain - that's what matters.

So glad to hear that Blue is as lively as ever, still enjoying her racing and not even needing boots now!  Happy Christmas and a great New Year to Blue and her friends.

Best wishes to you and your team for Christmas and a successful 2002 - hopefully we shall meet up in the not too distant future on the coursing field, I believe meetings are being organised at present.

See you soon.

Thanks June, I hope for a better racing season, don't we always!  New youngsters to run this year, so I hope.... I also hope be at a coursing meeting with an older one.  I retire next week so will have more time, but I will miss the internet access that I have at work for a while.  Hoping for a modem from Santa but it may take a while to get it set up.

Are you marching on Sunday, may see you there if so.

Liz

Happy Retirement, I'm sure you won't be short of things to do!  Hope Santa is kind to you, we shall miss you from the board if not.  I expect I shall see you soon.

All the best, good luck in 2002 with all the Bruntsfield's

Best wishes

June
