I FOR ONE TELEPHONED RAY TO OFFER HIM MY SUPPORT, IN MY OPINION HE IS BEING MADE A SCAPEGOAT OF FOR SOME REASON ALL HE DID WAS VOICE HIS VIEWS ON WHY THERE HAD BEEN SO MANY INJURIES ON THE DAY AT NO POINT IN HIS POST AS FAR AS I CAN SEE WAS HE HAVING A GO AT LES, LYNDA OR ANY OF THE NOTTS & DERBY MEMBERS , THIS ALL EPISODE HAS BEEN BLOW OUT OF PROPORTION
THATS MY OPINION

I like you Mick, think this has been blown out of proportion. My main concern being that Les & Lynda, have made a hasty descision in deciding not to hold anything other than our own opens, next year, but and it's a big BUT I respect and go along with their descision,(even if I do hope they'll change their minds o:) ).Most in whippet racing have known Les and Lynda alot longer than I have, but it didn't take me long to learn that at all times only the best will do for them both, and the reason for this is so plain and simple that anyone can see.'The welfare of the dogs.Nothing else comes into the equation. Therefore when Ray put his post on K9,I knew immediately what effect it would have on Les and Lynda :( I compleatley agree he is entitled to his opinion, but he didn't say it was just his opinion did he,he said it was 'what most people think'.Can only imagine what that did to Les and Lynda :( because I can promise you, besides the owners of the dogs injured, there would have been nobody else as upset on that field,as Les and Lynda.Going back to Ray's post, the only thing, besides the track that he thought was a factor in the injuries was the wind,so although you do not see it has 'Having a go at Les and Lynda' I can honestly tell you, that to Les and Lynda he couldn't have had more of a personal attack if he tried.Fortunately everybody else has posted positive replies on here, and I hope that if Les and Linda have read the lovely comments from all the other posters  ,they will realise that it was just ONE persons opinion, and not let that opinion ruin what has been a great year for Notts & Derby  and all the hard :sweating: :sweating: work you've put in over the year has sooooooo paid off

what a plus it has been to whippet racing that this new track came into being along with the BEST groundsman I know . Les has been a big asset to the NNWRF with his help getting our tracks runnable at Swallownest and although it was miles away he willingly gave his time to go over to Southport prior to the champs and get to work on the track there, what a sad loss to whippet racing it will be if the best track in the country isn't available for major events, the only thing lacking from this venue was camping and they can even have that now.

I can understand both Les and Lynda are gutted and feel really let down by some of the stupid comments posted on here by a very, very small minority, who if they thought the track was so bad why did thet race their dogs on it, the responsibility lies with themselves, thet are not forced to race, on the plus the vast majority of sensible whipeteers lay no blame at the club, track or its groundsman and we all hope in time they will reconsider their decsision

I spoke to ray he didn't mean to do personal attack on anybody at notts&derby I think it just as not come over the right way he and is family are not that kind of people I feel this as been blowed out of proportion I started topic about I we running how whippets on ground to hard this summer because there been few more injury this summer I feel straight finish to early didnt think it go off topic I been to notts and derby on we'd night because other clubs tracks are to hard in my opinion to race my dogs on it les and Linda are credit to whippet racing and I do hope les rethinks is decision to hold major events your got best run out in country and best ground man I feel ray is guilty in wording but know him and is family for 3 years now I hope people will give chance to put thing right put end to this sad affair your in sport Lyndon

I dont like to write things, but with forums and facebook :teehee: you need too,,I would rather phone than text,,or talk face to face,,at times we reply to things and it comes out all wrong in text,,writing. Bet this comes out wrong too :clown:

I was not at the champs,,but I do think the wind played a part in 2 dogs getting hurt,,Ballyboy caught his muzzle in his foot,,it does happen,,a dog can get hurt going to bed,,running up the stairs,,or playing ball in the park,,even if you have a bump ot 2 on your track,,the dogs wont get hurt as they run in parks, the beach, back gardens,,mine do,,my garden has swings, seesaws, goal posts,,and the huts,,they some how miss them ,,yes heart in mouth moments as pups,,I wish all the injured dogs well,,,I know Les and Linda,,they love racing and dogs and know this track was safe to run as I know a few racing at champs and if they thought it was unsafe the dogs would be back in the cars,,so track must have been good,,it was just bad luck,,I know this sounds harsh,,but I do think the wind, might have made a few dogs lose their legs,,There is nothing worse when folk slag the track and you have worked for weeks to have it right for the dogs,,we all love our dogs and want a safe track to run on,,Les and Linda worked hard on thiers,,remember if you race the dogs might get hurt, but its a dam safer on the tracks then over a golf course,,,I do hope this makes sence and puts my point over,,its safer to race than let the dogs run free
