Sorry Yvonnes internet is down so Yvonne has come over and used my user name

Iv'e asked Yvonne to post this for me as Les has logged off k9 for a while Firstly we both wish the dogs a speedy recovery. No one, apart from the owners was more upset than Les & l.Thanks for all the p.m.'s & messages of support, Les certainly needed them after reading Frigsy's post on k9, that was putting the boot in when he was down. This is the same track that he said is the best he has raced on. When he spoke to Les on Sat his other face said the track looked brilliant, then over night it had been rolled to much, developed bumps & a camber, what's that all about then! lf that was said by anyone that knew what they were talking about or who's opinion l respected l'd be worried' l'm not.Unfortunately Les is gutted. How do you know how many times the track was rolled Ray? We had down pour's every day the week before champs so it was rolled Thurs & then lightly again early Sun morning to take the scuff marks out as les felt it was only fare for the dogs racing on Sun, he also watered the pickup.By the way Di the grass is left long from the 175 line at the pickup all thew way to the fence at the top. Anyone les & l knew they would'nt be running on a sub standard track. Nott's & Derby is one of the best tracks in the country & is looked after by one of the best groundsman. When lots of tracks have been struggling with hard ground this summer, we have been lucky enough to have put hundred's of gallon's of water on ours every week, it certainly was'nt hard at the weekend plus it has a nice covering of grass on it. We were very proud of the end result. l personally did'nt see any finalsor the presentation as l was helping Audrey with her dogs back at the travel lodge till after 10 pm (Bally Boy fell when he caught his foot in his muzzle) Got a takeaway on the way home but neither of us could eat it.As for you Ray, we appreciate that you are entitled to your opinion but the majority seem to think it is only your opinion. You can stick your pm to les & l where the sun does'nt shine & from all the committee at Notts & Derby we dont want to see your face at our track again. Ours is a friendly little club & the 57 members we have are a great bunch so we have decided the only event we will be stageing next year & the foreseeable future will be our own open. lronically l've been negotiating with the council since July & been given the go ahead this week for camping week ends next year with full use of showers & toilets. THATS CANCELLED perhaps Ray can find you some where better. we dont need the hassle. Thats all l have to say on the matter. Lynda Sec Notts & Derby WRC

GUTTED - to read this, personally i think this is one of the best tracks i have run my dogs on. like lynda there are tracks that i have not raced my dogs BUT i come home and don't criticise/comment on an open forum as it is my personal opinion. as i haven't been able to get onto k9 sal has read this post out to me and is posting on my behalf.

surely racers must realise that after a hard seasons racing on hard ground injuries are bound to occur however caring owners are - opens at the moment IMO are not as well attended as in the past (financial reasons?) so the turn out at champs was bound to cause more comments

please les & lynda don't refuse any opens that are offered to you - this is a great club with dedicated workers

Firstly I would like to thank Les and Lynda for their hard work. Personally I think a bench mark was set that a lot of tracks should be aspiring to although I doubt some will ever be in the same league.

A perfect track enables a dog to run to it's maximum potential.

Dogs running for the Championships, I would expect to be at their peak of fitness for the event.

The faster they go, the more likely they are to be injured.

Adversley a tailwind came up, it was a factor.

Whilst I didn't capture dogs ''loseing their legs'' their speed did challenge my camera settings. Times obtained not only by one individual doing official times for the day but also other individiuals who came to the line and did some clocking showed one consistency. They were all going fast.

We all wanted a perfect running surface, we got it. I'm saddened to read that instead of Les and Lynda sitting back on their laurels after so much time and effort, they're wracking themselves over something they cannot possibly be responsible for.

this was my first visit to poolesbrooke and personally i think this is one of the best tracks i have raced on in 37 years of racing.

i do hope that les & lynda and the poolesbrooke members reconsider there decission ,why should we be made to miss out on a excellent camping venue like this through one mans stupid comments.

This is a sad day for whippet racing as a whole , i fully understand how angry and annoyed Les and Lynda must be feeling ...these 2 people have been the back bone of preparing a few tracks for some major events and have done the best work Ive even seen , not only does it cost them both money (Les & Linda donated a sum of money towards the watering for Swallows-nest 2009) but the hours they give up of there own time

I for one are mortified that the comments on k9 off a big mouthed idiot has resulted in the loss of any organizations or clubs holding events at the best track in the country ...

personally i think the track is spot on keep up the great work les and linda

Twice now I have started to reply to this thread and I have had to walk away to calm down and try again. No one in this country has done more track work than Les and Linda this summer. All through the hot weather they were there watering the track and constantly inspecting it to make sure everything was ok. They were not sat on their backsides being an armchair judge. They were working hard because the dogs safety is their priority at all times. I am gutted to read that everyone in the sport will lose a great venue because of all this upset. I must admit I am hoping that Les and Linda will change their decision when they see just how much support they have, and how grateful we all are that they do the work they do.

les /linda and the members dont let one mans silly comments spoil it for the rest of the whippet people rise above his comments you do a great job and its appreacited by 99% of the racing people hope you change your minds

I just have to say that I am mortified at the thought of Les and Linda feeling the way they do! I've said it before and I'll say it again, Notts and Derby is a superb club with class members.

When will people give credit, where it's due instead of constantly looking for excuses for things that cannot be avoided! I wish to plead with Les and Linda, and the rest of the committee

at the club to rethink and don't let a few individuals ruin what, to me, is a bright future for you, as regards opens etc., These days, it's hard enough to find a venue to run at, let alone one

of such a high standard. So, please rethink, for the sake of the genuine racers who appreciate all your hard work! Take care. Dee

Don't let the words of an emty vessel put you of what you love doing the most , everyone in whippet racing is solidly behind you & linda , please reconsider about the use of your club !

LINDA AND LES VERY VERY RESPECTED IN THE WHIPPET WORLD AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

RAN FOR THE FIRST TIME LAST YEAR WITH BALLAJURA. LOOKS SLIGHTLY UP HILL  AND SLIGHTLY STEPPER AT THE KNOCK OFF. WHICH I THOUGHT KILLED THE SPEED VERY WELL ONTO THE LURE  GREAT FOR RODDY AS HE PULLED UP SAFELY AND ON THE LURE, USUALLY FLYING THROUGH THE AIR TUMBLING AND GIVING HIMSELF ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS THATS WHY I RETIRED HIM BEFORE HE REALLY HURT HIM SELF. A REAL NUTTER ONTO THE LURE.

TOP TRACK TOP FOLKS TOP CLUB :luck:  :luck:

How dare this man who has only been in whippet racing a short time, has never done any work on any whippet track, especially in preparation

for a big week-end event, critise two people who have practically dedicated their lives to the welfare and safety of whippets.

I hope when he sits at home and ponders on the hurtfull and uniformed remarks that he made on an open forum such as K9

he realises how much he will be missing in future whippet racing. I think when he reads the posts on this topic it will hit home

how much damage he has done, and in the end he will be the one losing out on the camaradarie that goes on between fellow whippet racers.

Best wishes and many , many thanks to Linda & Les for all their hard work over the years

sorry but got to say what i think. the track had been rolled to much the ground was a bit bumpy and there is a camber at this track, plus the back wind was a factor,

if you beleave the times which i dont/ how can one man stand and clock the dogs.

i fill sorry for les because he does everythink he could and loves hes dogs and hes racing.

but somethink wasent right with that track the weekend theres a lot more injurys than you

know only saying what most people think. see our many are there next week.
THIS IS MY ORIGINAL POST ON A TOPIC ABOUT INJURYS WHICH WASN'T STARTED BY MYSELF. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE I HAVE BEEN HURTFUL OR UNINFORMED, IT IS JUST MY OPINION, WHICH IS WHAT A DISCUSSION FORUM IS ABOUT.

Les and Linda I just want you to know that I wasn't blaming yourselves or anyone else at your club in any way for the injuries sustained this weekend. I know you all worked very hard to get the track in the best condition it could be and it did look great. I did feel there must have been a reason for so many injuries on one weekend that something must have been amiss, wether it was the wind I don't know but what i do know is that it wasn't through the lack of hard work on your part. You are a great ambassador for the sport all the best Ray.

THIS IS THE PM I SENT TO LES AND LINDA WHICH IS ALSO IN KNOW WAY NASTY TO EITHER OF THEM, EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD TO STICK WHERE THE SUN DOESN'T SHINE.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT I HAVE RECEIVED MANY PM'S, CALLS AND TEXTS EITHER AGREEING THAT SOMETHING WAS AMISS OR THAT MY COMMENTS HAVE BEEN BLOWN WAY OUT OF PROPORTION.

AND BY THE WAY DOREEN WHEN THE JAN KEEBLE WEEKEND GOT MOVED TO BARLEYLANDS I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE THERE HELPING OUT AND I ALSO DONATE RAFFLE PRIZES TO CLUBS UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY SO MAYBE YOU ARE NOT AS INFORMED AS YOU THINK YOU ARE. RAY

I WILL NOT POST ANY MORE ON THIS TOPIC.

i would just like to have my say:

i dont know if any of you know how hard les has worked on this track watering everyday and rolling it i mean hes not a young man i mean he could also be doing better things in life other then spending his life rolling tracks n watering them just so it right for our dogs, has a huge heart he does  i was annoyed to hear people have been slagging him off because beleive it or not he even watred the track on his birthday and i know many others would be down the pub or whatever

well i just to tell you les and linda that you have done a fab job and injuries that have come about are problies ones that had it coming to them on any track so dont you worry ingnore people liek that n listen to the mojarity ya did a brill job, well i wouldnt nock the track off i love the track its briliant for any dog, a mint run in n that dont ruin your club opens just for a couple of people

theres alot of people behind yaz dont let it get to ya 8) :clown: get ya head in the air and be proud to look at the number of dogs NOT injured that might of been wothout your hard work could carry this essay on for dayysss haha ;)

Les & Linda you put a huge amount of effort and hard work into that track for "our" weekend and in my opinion it paid off. The track was in great condition and as for the injuries dogs picked up, well its all part of the sport and people know this.

Please dont let idiots spoil the experience for you, this is a great track and should be used to its full potential

I FOR ONE TELEPHONED RAY TO OFFER HIM MY SUPPORT, IN MY OPINION HE IS BEING MADE A SCAPEGOAT OF FOR SOME REASON ALL HE DID WAS VOICE HIS VIEWS ON WHY THERE HAD BEEN SO MANY INJURIES ON THE DAY AT NO POINT IN HIS POST AS FAR AS I CAN SEE WAS HE HAVING A GO AT LES, LYNDA OR ANY OF THE NOTTS & DERBY MEMBERS , THIS ALL EPISODE HAS BEEN BLOW OUT OF PROPORTION

THATS MY OPINION

Anyone can give a hand NOW & AGAIN, it's the people who do the hard work WEEK IN , WEEK OUT ,who can be relied on without being asked at clubs to keep the tracks and equipement in safe working order so that fellow club members and whippet racers who are visiting can have a good days racing, or in some cases a week-ends racing Club members know who the people are that keep clubs going otherwise many a club would close down without these dedicated workers.
