Do you have a whippet racing club nearer you? If so, I'd start off there when she's old enough. Most clubs usually have trials where you can try dogs at it, get them used to chasing a lure. Not all dogs are naturals at it, and experienced racing people usually have a few tricks up their sleeve if the penny doesn't drop immediately. Once it has then you'll know it's worth travelling further afield. Good luck.

What whippet coursing meetings?  There aren't any at the moment because of the ban.  Are you meaning lure coursing?
Yes I mean Lure coursing, but set up to simulate live coursing over larger distances.

Like the one Lamping Man won the other week.

The Lancashire Lure coursing is a fair treck too, but I'm gona make one in to when Mark is able to set some dates, gona try the racing as well

It's not that far to the Lancashire Lakey get your arse over there :p The East Anglian the one that LM won the other week is about 200 miles away (w00t)

Oh you are a bully Lesley :D I'm gona come to the racing starting in Feb.

The lure coursing I was talking about are the meetings that have replaced the blue ribon hare coursing events such as the Laguna cup etc not the club lure coursing meets that I went to in Skellmeresdale.

BeeJay, I'm not sure how far they they were coursing over when I went but it did'nt appear to be more than a couple of hundred metres. I could be wrong though I'm sure Mark will put me right if I am

Heard my name mentioned. Hi all. East Anglian Whippet Coursing Club offer a testing course over about 650 metres, maybe more. If your dogs are REALLY fit then why don't you consider coming along? No good this weekend, but we are running a puppy cup and other stakes and whoever wins, believe me, they will have earned it. I am ,or I was ,a committed hare courser but the sport we put on ,I think is second to none and the dogs just love it. That has got to be the test in my view.

Always moving forward

Lampingman

BSFA normally run over 500+ meters that's why I was asking. 650+ sounds like a good run to me.

You didn't use a close loop system either which is better I think. Less risky to the dogs.

It would take me hours and hours to get to you. + my dogs aren't anything like fit enough. :D

Congrats btw. Have fun on Sunday. (I'm sure that you will  )
