Question Time!

I think that presenting your dog and yourself the best you can is a mark of respect to the judge as well as giving a good overall picture. Just look at how the equestrian fraternity turn out for a show. Smart or what?

Went to Crufts a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how some people turned out. Cropped tops and very long jeans. Very fashionable I'm sure but was it really appropriate for our premiere show?

WE LOVE GOING TO OUR COMPANION SHOWS, NOT ONLY A GOOD TEACHING GROUND FOR THE DOGS ,BUT ALSO SUPPORTS SOME WELL WORTH CHARITIES.

On the clothing note - I can't believe how many people wear clothes that match dogs exactly!! How very strange,

I was watching someone showing a ridgeback the other day and the handler was wearing a full suit that was a perfect Rideback colour - you just couldn't really see the dog at all!

That could've been a handling ploy Joe - to hide a bad topline. ;)

I was advised to wear something that contrasted with the dog so they could see the outline better - so as Savvy was fawn I should avoid beige. So what do I do with a striped dog - wear spots? LOL

You can order Our Dogs and Dog World from your friendly neighbourhood newsagent.  They may not stock them as a matter of course but they are not a problem for them to get as they are sale or return titles, so go ahead and ask for just a one off copy.
Trust me.  I'm a newsagent! :*
Thank you silas! I will give this a go!

I have been finding out about companion shows - there's one near us at the bank holiday which I will try to go to! Maybe I should practice dressing up too!! :D :D :D

A plain solid colour - green, blue, lavender, pink etc - nothing grey, tan or brown and especially not with a busy pattern on it.

:D

Also, the contrast shouldn't be too big either. E.g. showing a black dog dressed in white might not in reality turn out very well. First - most dogs have a few small white spots on them and those will definitely blend with your outfit and not with the dog. Second - anyone trying to take a picture of you with your dog in the ring will have a difficult time especially if it is a bright sunny day.

Consider the surroundings of the show when choosing an outfit, indoors and outdoors have different lightening conditions and different colour schemes.

If you have a digital camera ask a friend/OH to take a picture of you stacking your dog wearing the different outfits you are choosing from. Go for the one that makes your DOG look good! :D

Put on something that looks nice, you feel comfortable wearing and above all non-slippery shoes!!! :)
