PUPPY FARMING - TWICKENHAM, FELTHAM, STAINES

"The strong suspicion is that his parents were stolen from this country, taken over to Europe or Ireland for breeding in horrific conditions and then the sick puppies shipped back over here for sale. "
So the parents are stolen in the UK, taken out of UK( requiring a "Pet Passport")bred from abroad & then the puppies imported to UK(requiring a Pet Passport) for sale ?

Instead of acquiring the parents(by fair means or foul)in UK & breeding from them & selling the pups in UK ?

Which would make the most money & have the less risks for the barstewards that"puppy farm" ?

I have no idea who these Animal Protection Services are, but obviously not an"official" agency.

Having for many years fought against puppy farmers & their evil trade of selling sick & dying puppies, I have never come across this scenario of stealing dogs, exporting them, breeding them & importing the puppies into UK.

The trade in illegal importation of unage puppies with false documentation( whose parents have never been in UK)is fairly new & has arisen because of the public demand for instant availability if puppies.

There are literally thousands of dogs like Labradors being legally bred( but not necessarily responsibly bred)in the UK without importing more. The illegally imported puppies are more likely to be the "fashionable designer/handbag"dogs.

At the moment puppies are sellng for silly money, I've seen Border Collie puppies priced at £4,000 of no special pedigree or ability at 3 DAYS of age !

I think TBH you were conned by a breeder/trader who is out just for the money. Sadly you have lost your little one & when in time you feel upto taking another dog into your life do your research, see the mother with the puppies in the flesh, check out the person purporting to be the breeder, the health testing status of the parents & check if the breeder has a licence from the council & how many bitches they breed from. Some legal puppy farmers are licensed to have 100s of bitches these are the ones breedibg dogs for pure money without a thought for the dogs themselves.
In my lifetime of owning dogs I have bred literally a handful of puppies from fully health tested parents to improve the breed not money, never made any money on any litter I bred, but did get a puppy( or more)from each litter for myself. Stopped breeding in 1985 & since then have either rescued or bought my dogs. My current dogs are 2 rescued mongrels & an elderly pedigree BC.

They do seem to be an official charity, registered with the Charities Commission. But they don't seem to have been around long.

They may be a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in existence since last year doesn't make them an official body nor give them any special powers with regard to animal welfare. They haven't lodged any policies, details of founders etc as they haven't got to do this for 10 months after the end of their 1st financial period. So a completely unknown quantity. I am surprised there has been no publicity about this new organisation, I would have expected them to be headline news, but zilch apart from a press release from the company. Their language throughout is very american ! Interestingly opened on 1st March this year & already has cases in court !!

Jacob Lloyd and his small team at Animal Protection Services are very experienced in their own right with backgrounds in animal welfare, trading standards etc and I have very much appreciated their help. The 'suspicion' of the dogs being stolen and then bred in Ireland and the puppies being illegally imported here has come from multiple agencies, including the RSPCA, from the evidence I and others have given.

My MP, Tulip Siddiq, managed to get the police to go around to the premises within 24 hours and they had completely cleared the property of any evidence of puppies, hence the seller being strongly suspected as a 'puppy dealer' - essentially being used to make it appear, very convincingly I might add, like they had been bred in a home with the mother present. I could say more about this particular case but I'm extremely reluctant as I don't want to publicise what is an actual live investigation.

I have exhausted all channels in order to do my bit, something that I feel is only right given what has happened, and I will assist any agency in an investigation as much as I possibly can. My soul purpose in posting this thread was to raise awareness to anyone that might be thinking of buying a puppy in that area. Nothing more. It's not quite as clear cut as you might imagine and believe me these puppies are being imported, on a level you couldn't imagine, into this country.

I appreciate your input and I'm happy for you to blame me for my naivety - trust me I have learnt some lessons over the past couple of weeks and I will take any criticism on the chin, but I really do think on this one, you're barking up the wrong tree in terms of your assessment about what happened here and the credibility of APS.

So thieves take rhe trouble to remove & rechip stolen dogs, passport & rabies vax etc taken them to Ireland (as opposed to Northern Ireland), breed from them & then smuggle the puppies to UK to sell ? Really ? As an retired professional investigator I find this hard to believe, far less risky & far less costly to simply breed from stolen/ bought dogs & sell the puppies totally in the UK to unsuspecting buyers like yourself. Even legally puppy farmed dogs are sold from private addresses to hide their origins & backyard breeders also sell their pups this way.

As for the money grabbing RSPCA perhaps if the invested more of the £140,000,000+ annual income actually investigating the conditions in puppy farms than they do begging for even more money in TV adverts & employibg trained investigators instead ex military, they might actually stop some animal abuse.

I hope Mr Lloyd is more successful with this venture that he was with Cruelty Watch CIC. & Campaign for the abolitian of animal exploitation, neither company lasting more than a couple of years. He's been very busy for a 24 year old

Can I make a suggestion @CoCo2014?

Channel your resentment into something good. If you have the expertise that you're so vehemently proclaiming to have then get out there and use your skills or at the very least share your knowledge with other agencies. Otherwise, thou "doth protest too much, methinks"

Pontificating on here about a particular case that you don't know anything about is just a waste of time and I can't see how it helps anyone, including you.

I think it's time to draw the line under the disagreement here. It's obviously an emotionally charged topic, and people interested in all the issues raised can do their own research.

Emma, it's so good that you've shared your story as a cautionary tale to others - no doubt a lot of good will come out of a very sad situation.

Ooooooh touched a nerve ? What resentment ? This Angel man who set up this charity last year has 2 previous companies( well one actually with a change of name all on Companies house records)with very similar aims that have been dissolved, the last one just before this charity was registered, is obviously highly successful.

I'm retired from investigating, but still involved with animal welfare from a difference direction as a volunteer. You keep supporting this charity I look forward to hearing of the private prosecution successes of this very new charity
