Hi,
Albie is 5 1/2 months old and built like a tank. He is all muscle and adorabe but walking is a complete nightmare. Not only does he pull but he does that crazy jumping/twirling thing that a lot of whippies seem to do. (or maybe just mine!!!)
Anyway I have tried the stop/start method, the walking backward method, the turning around and walking the other way method and I've bribed him but all work for about 5 mins and then he's off.
I've tried a halti which does stop him pulling but after 3 weeks he still hates wearing it. I now have a dog that constantly tries to trip me up trying to get it off or hops along trying to paw it off.
I have been recommended by a friend the 'Canny Collar'. It is a ordinary collar which fastens behind the ears. It then has a nose band that is connected to straps that atttatch to the lead behind the head. The dog pulls and equal pressure is applied to the straps, gently tightening the nose band. You can look online for a better picture.
What do you all think? Would it be suitable for a whippet.
