Pre-entry

I for one would not get to caught up in the rule book as in my opinion there are several rules that either do not apply any more or are just not getting adheared to.  Just to mention a few rule 1 (governing track and equipment) a part states that in scratch racing traps to be 9ins apart and if block traps are not available the traps should be fastened together with a bar to ensure that they open together.  Did this happen at the recent straight championships I dont think that it did but I am prepared to be corrected on this one.  (Additional rules for bend racing) rule 2 The start and finish of the race must be on a straight part of the track and not a bend.  In my opinion this is not always the case.  (Additional rules for 2002/2003) whilse it does state in rule 2 All national events weigh in untill 11am rule 13 in (championship rules) states at championship events all whippets to be weighed in by advertised time.  The question here is does the new rule for 2002/2003 superseed rule 13 in the championships rule or does rule 13 in the championship rule stand as a seperate rule for the championships.  In my opinion it is time that a new rule book was printed so that new rules are added and rules that no longer apply be removed.  I hope that pre entry gets voted against again as if your dog is over or under the weight you entered you dont get to run according to the rule book.  And this would not be fair to anyone no matter how far they have traveled regardless of the weigh in time.

Hi Pete here , i would just like to say that pre-entry in my eyes is not a good idea, the ruling was changed so that more people would turn up with their dogs to run, which they have done, it was costing a lot of pople money and they were not running their dogs due to injury/seasons, and some because their dogs weighed in heavy, you are not allowed to pre-enter  in more than one weight group and if you have travelled a lot of miles to race your dog only to be told the dog weighs  a couple of ounces over you would be absolutly gutted.Another point, if running opens at 2ft a pound dogs should not be allowed the quarter pound allowance.

             Pete.
