Could anyone help me as I'm trying to find a UK breeder of Portugese pointers please?

Yeah i was thinking that too, you could also search around on rescue centres in Portugal for them. They could be in rescues.

why not find the national breed-club, & ask if they have a national breed-rescue?

The family who bought a puppy & their primary wage-earner was laid off, may not be able to afford their pup any longer - or maybe they must move, after the drop in income, & can't find dog-friendly housing.
Most U-S breed clubs have at least 2 national breed-rescue - some cut it up into East of the Mississippi & Western states, some divide the country regionally [SW, NW, SE, NE, & Southern & Northern Central].

The promising pup who didn't grow-up to be the show-quality gem they expected is still a wonderful pet - & needs to be placed in a loving home.
