What a fab set up for the chickens!

What are the pekin bantums like? Jo is thinking of adding two to her brood, or would you recommend the Silkies or Polish bantums instead? Questions, questions!! :D

i cant really judge the pekings, but the one i have is abit aggressive to the other hens at times, and is flighty round the garden, maybe when she settles she will get better...i had to swap one of my polish bantams for her as Maggie was actually a cockerel! (w00t) so the lady took him back and i had the pol peking instead.

the silkies are brilliant, lovely little hens.  ..and the polish are so funny they are not very old but so friendly you can walk right up to them and pick them up ;)

my silkie (cinderella) lays usually every other day, and snow white is yet to lay

mum gets at least 1 egg aday, lil maybel lays most days and fat martha every other i think

I'm trying to convince Jo now to go for the Silkie's instead of the bantam's.

I think they look so cute and if you say they are fab pets too and lay a few eggs a week then that is a bonus.

Jo has 3 hybrids at the moment who all lay every day - they are all really friendly - Conor loves them, just like your Elisha is with her chickens :)

love all the chickens and the rabbit i would her humbug lol

i think kids should have as many pets as possible i am working on that theory at the mo :-

i think hens are great for kids, some of Elisha's big hen are only just coming into lay now...with Bluebelle the only one who is yet to lay, but you can see shes not ready yet.

she had 7 eggs yesterday from the big hens, so that was brilliant, plus 1 silkie egg..

she takes the extra eggs racing and sells them for £1 for half a dozen....only problem is we wont be racing for a few more weeks.......i see many egg meals coming our way

Omelettes, fritatta's galore for you then!

Sold her on the Silkie's!! Just got to find some now :D

Its the good old life  i think its excellent having hens and wish we had room for some

I've got a spare shed and wanted to make a big run and get some rescue battery hens - hubby says hens and whippets=not good idea. Please give me some evidence to the contrary!! No problem keeping them where we live as a neighbour has them as well.
