We gained Max three years ago, as his previous owner wanted a new home for him as he was unsuitable for showing, ( too friendly we were told) and he is very friendly. He was wanted as a companion for Hudson, who is a year older. He has had problems off and on over the years particularily with his back right leg, although previous examinations have shown nothing. Over the past four weeks, he has had a intermittent dead leg, struggled to jump on the chairs and bed, reluctant to go up the stairs, so he went back to the vet, this time seeing one of the new vets who told DH that Max has loose kneecaps. I've done a websearch and this is called Patella Luxation, and may require surgery, plus we really need to get some weight off him. We have always struggled with his weight although he eats less than anyone else in the pack and is the most active on our walks. This condition may explain the strange way he tick-tocks when coming up the stairs. Any one else have a dog with this - how did you get on?
