Ozzy Update

Poor Ozzy,at least you are getting somewhere now.........................lots of hugs to you both :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

:thumbsup: Thanks everyone, Ozzy has had his stitches out but it was the nurse who did it - so I couldnt find anymore out from the vet. He just has to carry on with the antibiotics till he has his blood done again in 2 weeks, the stuff on his head and ears hasnt improved at all :unsure: but he must be feeling ok he is jumping around like a spring lamb!! (w00t)
 
Lots of kind people have asked how Oz is doing, so thought Id update. He had his bloods done today again, the vet rang me this afternoon and said that there is a slight decrease in the level of enzymes on one test (still higher than it should be) and the other test even showed an increase :unsure: but because the levels are not exceptionaly high, the vets have decided that as he is ok in himself, Im to stop the antibiotics and they are going to let his body rest and see if he improves on his own without any medication. They are going to check levels again in a few months, but if I see any change in him i am worried about - I have to take him back and then they will scan his liver again or do a biopsy. He still has the weird stuff on his ears, its neither improved or got worse.

So there we are - not really any further forward :unsure: I know Ozzy is always going to have problems from the bump on his head but this is worrying me, I can put up with scabby ears as long as he is happy and in no discomfort but its this liver thing I dont understand and I wouldnt be happy for him to have another anaesthetic so soon either :( So keep your fingers crossed for him wont you :thumbsup:

Oh Im so sorry Tina that Ozzy has to have even more investigations....I do hope they can get to the bottom

of all his problems....poor lad has had more than his fair share of illnesses and problems.

thanks Janis, I am worried but at the moment he is just his usual self really :clown: . He hops and skips and chases Vinnie round the garden (he cant catch him of course) and makes everyone laugh with his funny antics (we forgive him everything cos he cant help it (w00t) ) that said, he has his "odd" times, pacing for hours, staring up at the ceiling or sky and going a bit wobbly :unsure: but whilst he is happy - Im ok! :)) Thanks for thinking of us :huggles:

A Bit messy on ears but Manuka honey 20+ was a great help clearing up Lilly's ears which are very thin and had gone pustular, scraggy and crusty. I now that they are better, I moisturise them every day with Vasiline. There has been a remarkable improvement in just 10 days.

Hope that Ozzy remains well :luck:
 
:)) Ill try the manuka - ive got some of that in my cupboard, but have a feeling that Vinnie will probably try and eat Ozzys ears :lol: Maybe if I put it on at night (Oz sleeps upstairs in his crate) thanks for the suggestion :thumbsup:
 
I can just imagine my lot queueing to nibble the ears of the honey annointed ... hope it works for Ozzy though, Manuka honey is amazing stuff. Try not to worry too much about his liver, it is a remarkably resilient organ. Thinking of you.

Yes, the Manuka coated ears of Lilly are very popular with Toddy :wacko:

It is however pretty sticky and if you can keep them apart for 30 mins it should have time to do some work. I usually apply twice a day.

Not the nicest stuff in the world to apply especially to a dogs head. I keep getting all sticky when I stroke Lilly (w00t)

It is worth a try as all else to date has failed. Let us know if there is any improvement after a few days
