THERE ARENT THAT MANY ABOUT, BUT WHILST CHECKING OUT A SMALL CERAMIC ORNAMENT OF A WHIPPET IN A LOCAL SHOP, I MENTIONED THAT ALTHOUGH THE ONE I WAS LOOKING AT WHAT BRINDLE, I WOULD LIKE ONE LIKE THAT IN BLACK. AS I HAVE A BLACK BOY.

THE SHOP KEEPER TOLD ME THAT THE COMPANY WHO MAKES THEM, WOULD, MAKE ONE JUST LIKE MINE.

IF YOU PROVIDE PICTURES TAKEN FROM VARIOUS ANGLES, THEY PAINT THEM TO LOOK LIKE YOURS.

NOT TRYLY BELIEVING THAT THIS COULD BE DONE, I AGREED TO ACCEPT, AND DID THE NESSASARY PHOTO SHOOT.

OFF THE PICTURES WENT TO THE COMPANY, BTW THE COMPANY IS CALLED 'NORTH LIGHT' AND I WAITED WITH BAITED BREATH.

ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THEY CONTACTED ME TO SAY IT WAS READY, SO I WENT TO COLLECT IT FEELING QUITE OPTIMISTIC.

WHEN I GOT IT, I WAS AMAZED AT THE DETAIL. THAT INDEED, WAS MY BOY THEY SENT BACK. THEY HAD MISSED NOTHING OUT, THEY HAD EVEN PICKED UP ON A SMALL WHITE MARKING ON THE BACK OF HIS LEFT HEEL. THE WHITE MARK ON THE CHEST WAS EXACT! I INSPECTED AND WAS ASTOUNDED AT THE QUALITY O THE ORNAMENT.

IT CAME ON A SMALL PLYNTH AND I HAD A TINY BRASS PLAQUE MADE WITH HIS NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH.

IT STANDS IN A GLASS DISPLAY CABINET AND WE WILL HAVE OUR BOY SET IN CERAMIC FOREVER.

YOU MAY THINK THAT IT WOULDNT BE JUST LIKE YOURS, BUT MINE WAS SO TRUE TO LIFE THAT I CRIED.

I WISH YOU COULD SEE IT. THEY DIDNT CHARGE ANY EXTRA FOR THE WORK WHICH BTW COST ME 25.00. THEY MUST HAVE STUDIED IT SO NOT TO MISS ANYTHING.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU CONSIDER THIS, BUT THE ONLY COMPANY THAT WILL DO IT IS 'NORTH LIGHT'.

THE BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT

can you post a photograph of the ornament?

SADLY NOT, I WISH I COULD SHOW YOU ONE OF MY BOY AND THE ORNAMENT. BUT I DONT HAVE THE RIGHT EQUIP. IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS OR SO I MAY BE ABLE TO DO IT.

Would love to see it annlouise please - I have a horse figurine by Northen Light - they are very lifelike.

Hi Annelouise

Dou you have any contact details for them or a website.

Thanks

Sion

We sell North Light in our shop. I have an order outstanding from them at the moment, because we sell many of the unusual breeds it might be a couple of weeks coming in yet because they are probably needing painting, however, I know there are some whippets in the order, I know some of them are ordered but I'll try and take a picture of them before they are collected.

The cold cast bronze whippet is lovely, we sold out very quickly at Crufts, but I think there's one on the order so I'll take a picture of it for you to see.

They also do limited edition pieces of the Crufts Best in Show winner. They are very behind at the moment and haven't done Dee Dee yet, although I did remind them last week, I think they have had problems with the Peke, but Dutch Gold is still available, which I'm saving up for so if I ever get it I'll let you all see it.

They also do the most lovely Deerhound.

Sorry to ramble on but it's what I know best, dog figurines, so I do go on a bit.

Jenny

Ive managed to take a photo of my foal - which is by Northlight - Ive had it several years now and bought it in Collectibles shop.

If the dogs are half as good as the horses they will be brilliant  I wouldnt mind a dog myself.

Heres the pictures

I saw the whippets on your stand at Crufts Jenny, they are super. I was very tempted by the bronze one, my favourite too!

I had one done of my first whippet `Simon` ( Director of Dondelayo ) It was fantastic ,but he somehow managed to get a leg broken , I sent it back to North lLight but they `lost it ` and never offered to replace it  Mind you I am talking of about 20 years ago :- "

and here is a picture of a bronze whippet on sale on ebay

and a northlight greyhound

Was that modelled on your dog nigelmfc - because its very nice.

No it wasn`t , we bought it off E-bay about a year ago. It does look quite like our Tess though, that`s what attracted us to it. We used to have a northlight whippet in blue. but one of the cats we had at the time knocked it off the fireplace and broke it, not often that a cat gets the better of a whippet !!!

they are great   got some too   love the horse

we went to the northlight stand at the last trade show at the n.e.c. in birmingham.their models are really good and capture the characteristics of the breeds they do.their horses are superb too.at the moment theres a company we buy from in stockport near manchester and they do a lot of dog breeds even the rare ones and they do a lot of resin models of whippets and horses that look like bronze but arent and they are a lot cheaper. :)
