Some time back, I was having problems with the Dog forum site and no other. You suggested that I should use Google Chrome (as mentioned in my post) and not my Internet explorer. Your suggestion solved the problem and I have used Google Chrome ever since for this Dog forum only.
Looking back, a long way to 2018 I think by the look of things, that the loss of my Google Chrome and not being able to get into any gmail's is my problem with this site!!!
It's a good job you asked me that question Josie, it may have solved just one of the problems.
I'm stuck again and cannot scroll up or down so am not able to send this reply!!!
Back again, I closed the site down and went back in again.
Can you use page up and down arrows instead of scrolling, excuseme? It's just a workaround, not a fix, but may help till you can get your computer man to have a look.
Also, have you restarted your PC completely recently? I can forget to do that for days in a row, but it can solve a lot of problems.
I will have a look to see if I can find the up and down arrows and give it a try.
I do turn my computer off at the end of each day but I do not pull the plug out of the wall fitting.
My default 'fix everything' thing is to unplug (or remove battery) and leave for 5minutes and plug back in again.. sometimes that actually works, but part of me thinks it's just coincidence!
Has not worked for me on this occasion, my screen is very pink today, sadly
Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft, it's been superseded by Edge! That said, I still use MS very occasionally for sites that refuse to open in any of my usual browsers (not IE or Chrome). Chrome... well it's from Google so draw your own conclusions
@excuseme - the page up and page down keys on your keyboard should allow you to move the screen up and down. Hope that helps.
Thank you @arealhuman
I have tried the keyboard keys up and down as suggested by Judy previously and it made no difference.
My computer has been away and now come back. So far all sites are working ok, I think !
My big problem now is that my screen is wider than my monitor and my bottom bar is below my screen and can hardly be seen, this bar has one of my shut down icons and the time and date and how good my internet signal is or is not, whether I am connected to the internet or not and other icons.
My man knows about this and I am just waiting for his assistance again
It has been suggested that maybe my screen is too old, small and square, and I may need to get a new wide screen
You should be able to resize your screen output (I'm assuming you use Windows). Usually right-clicking on the desktop area - i.e. the background, not an icon - some options should pop up, and one of them should be "resolution" or something similar. This option may even be available through a manufacturer menu in this pop up, so it could say something like "Dell Display Options". When you click on this, select a smaller resolution, or if you know you screen size in (it'll be in the instruction manual if you have it), select that. You should get the option to keep or revert the settings, so if the display doesn't work, after 15 seconds it will go back to the previous settings.
@arealhuman
Thank you very much.
I will give it a try later, I need the house to be quiet without any other distractions.
I am confused before I even start trying I'm too old for all of this modern technology. (I just don't have a very good brain)
.
I'm confused all the time! How did you get on? Your computer person should be able to talk you through this over the phone (appreciate it's Sunday/Bank Holiday tomorrow).
@arealhuman
I did have a look at what you said to do, I had the option to make the screen view smaller, the next size down was far too small. I stopped before I had a temper tantrum over something I didn't have any control or understanding of .
Thank you for trying to help me.
I am managing with most things but I have to move the pages from left to right by grabbing hold of the screen on the top and shifting it from left to right to read everything.
Having had a google, you could try pressing CTRL + SHIFT + WIN + B simultaneously (WIN is the key with four square 'panes' on it, in between FN and ALT on my laptop). This should reset the graphics... as far as I can tell, even if it doesn't work it shouldn't cause anything bad to happen..... But if you do try it, cross your fingers to be on the safe side....
