We had our 8 week old whippet puppy vaccinated with the new Lepto 4 vaccine last week. His second vaccination isn't until 11th January - four weeks from the first one. However, the vet said he would have enough immunity to go for walks two weeks after the first vaccination. He was very clear about this, and I'm sure he's correct. However, this seems odd to me. Anyone else had similar advice?

Yes, it is fine. I worked in a vet's, until recently, and it is what they are all recommending.

More dogs die due to poor socialisation than die from disease. Get him out and about as soon as you can. He can, even now, mix with vaccinated dogs, in a safe environment, as long as they are friendly. He can be carried anywhere to watch the world go by. Exciting times ahead!

Thank you. I'm now really looking forward to next Saturday when he can go on the ground for the first time.

At the moment he goes out into the world with me and his 'big sister' dog in a puppy pappoose. It's fine whilst he's tiny but I didn't see a leggy, lively three month old staying in it for long! Good point about the importance of socialisation.
