Looking forward to this show - always a good one - lets hope the weather stays good

This'll be my first dog show and I don't know what to expect! How big is it? What's the best time to arrive? Will there be food available there (hot dogs - no pun intended - etc.)?... and will there be classes suitable for 4-month-old pups or is that too young?

Hi

The New Forest Spring show, is a well established lovely show held in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest. As regards the Puppy classes, there is a DOG Puppy class 6-12mths, any size, any coat & also a BITCH Puppy class 6-12mths,any size, any coat. At some shows there are puppy classes for under 6mths but not here. Although your puppy is only 4mths old, you may enter him for the experience of being handled etc, I suggest that you tell the judge how old he is & say you just want the practice etc, there will should be absolutely no problem with this. The Puppies are the 1st classes to be judged at 11.30am, so I would advise you to get there about hour beforehand, to settle your pup around the new surroundings.

There is an excellent refreshment van, selling drinks, bacon rolls, hamburgers etc, there are also trade stands there.

Do hope you enjoy your 1st show & that your pup has a good time !.....The weather is looking good!

PS Just a thought, but you are not allowed to let your dog off on the showground & surrounding area, because of the herds of deer & New Forest ponies.

I will be taking all the photos at the show, so please come & introduce yourself !! Maria

Thank you!

It might be interesting to see how Jasper gets on with being handled, he's a bit mouthy, I wouldn't want to upset the judge... Definitely wouldn't let him off the lead, he's desperate to make friends wiith everyone and every dog we meet

See you there!

Looking good for the weather

See you all there.

My little Flight was supreme last April at this show.

Taking most of the gang.

Pat and all The Somerset Lurchers and 2 little whippets.

Maria, I looked for someone wielding a camera but didn't spot any likely contenders so apologies for not meeting you. However, if anyone who spotted the complete numpty in the dog puppy class who didn't have a clue what she was as she'd only arrived 10 minutes earlier and managed to get herself first in line, that was me

So with me leading off we had what I was told after was the slowest procession round the ring ever, I didn't know if I was meant to stop when I got back to my starting position so carried on, after Jasper was inspected I returned to the front of the line instead of the end, and when the dogs were all stood Jasper was facing the different way to every other dog... personally I was just happy that he had all four feet on the ground and hadn't bitten the judge :b

Despite that, it was a great experience and a great day. There were some absolutely scrumptious dogs there. Congratulations to Jasper's mum Willow for somong second in her class up against some stiff competition, and Begw for coming second in hers despite sporting a recent injury.

Here's me making a fool of myself, and Jasper hiding under the car in embarrassment ;)
