We've had to have the injection a couple of times over the years but our vet has always said within 48 - 72 hours after the mating. The dogs have been ok afterwards. Check again with your vet.Sonia

I had the same about 15 years ago when my stud dog broke away in the van and got to the bitch.

I went straight to the vet and he gave her the injection,he said it had to be done within 48~72 hours.

She was ok afterwards.
