Hiking has become somewhat of a hobby lately. Clears the head quite well :)
We started with much shorter distances, but now Miles can easily handle 5-6 hr hikes in the mountains.

Oh wow! What great photos and a fantastic place to walk. Having just returned from a rainy trudge through a muddy field, I am very envious!
Is this near where you live?

An our and a half drive. But it's worth it. We spend the day in the mountains, with breaks, lunch, looking for gigantic porcupines up in the trees, etc. Miles is like a prudent tourist, goes to every ledge to look down, often scaring my dearest wife to death. On the way back we usually stop at an old cute university town for coffee. Good coffee and good vibe (college kids and town residents seem to be enjoying the nice weather). It's dark by the time we get back home, but a day well spent. Best on a Saturday, when you still have Sunday to relax or catch up on chores.
Here is one of the porcupines we saw up there:

Oh, that counts as being practically on your doorstep!
It sounds like an ideal way to spend a Saturday. I always enjoy seeing your photos, you really have some fantastic and varied walks where you live.

As a teenager I read Billy Bryson’s ‘A Walk in the Woods’. I’ve always dreamed of walking a little part of the Appalachians trail ever since.

Lovely! And I've noticed you're not calling that handsome lump of a dog 'Baby Miles' anymore, that always made me laugh as he was getting so big!:D How old is he now btw?

Lovely photos as always :)

The boy will be 2 y.o. at the end of November . No longer the Baby Miles he used to be! :)

Oh they are always babies, no matter the size. I don't know about you but in my head, mine are always stuck into certain age and it is very hard to truly see how they change when they get older.
Wow...he truly is something...beautiful little 'beast' :D (said in a nicest possible way)

Baby Miles has turned into a handsome young man:)

Working with a Mexican hairless today that has taken a shine to a couple ridgebacks at the park. I always hold out hope that all ridgebacks are as good as Miles is, and Ari was. they were close enough. :D
