It's nothing to do with the website not being legit, and it's not a case of not trusting Grace - though let's face it, she could be anyone. But somewhere, your email address will be on a new list, which could be harvested by hackers, or by Google - have you not read about the Facebook data scandal? For me, it's important that we don't get into the habit of giving out personal details to all and sundry without a second thought, and if enough people thought likewise then Google would have to rethink their strategy.

And if you think nothing will be done with your email address, you have to ask why Google ask for it in the first place;)
Okay I'm sorry for asking :)

You need an email address so that people do not to the survey more than once. Thanks,

Fair enough (though I do have at least 4 email addresses:D ). However, I've found that you can just make up a random email address so I've been able to do your survey after all:)

No problem - it's good to be aware of the possible issues. And my OH is security conscious to the point of paranoia so some of it rubs off on me!
Okay i will be more careful

googleDocs is a software program. It allows shared "authorship" of a single document, whether that's an e-mail, an article, a memoir, a book, a survey, what-have-U.

however, googleDocs isn't Grace Beards. Grace is theoretically an individual human, with a mailing address, checking-acct, citizenship in one or more countries, an employment Hx, medical Hx, etc. // That googleDocs scores as safe doesn't tell me that Grace Beards [or her survey] is "safe" - praps Grace is a collective of Russian hackers who are collecting personal data of dog-owners so that they can charge purchases for their OWN dogs to the PayPal & checking-accts of strangers, known dog-owners whom they've never met.
Maybe Chihuahua-sized garments are going to appear on Ur Chewy.com statement, & the only dog U own is a Scottish Deerhound who couldn't get her head into one of those dog-coats!

anything is possible on the Web. ;)

why do you not trust her? where are you from @Grace Beards ?

Its not a case of trusting one person because lets face it we do not know whos who in a case like this.
Its a case of giving out my private email and getting lord knows what spamming my inbox.
I had it once and was getting over 100 emails a day..

.

it's been about 10-days since i last went thru my spam-box, & currently there are over 2K e-mails in it.

that just began recently [within the past 3-mos] as my spam-blocker is now well-educated, & normally i would accumulate maybe 10 to 15 over that same period; obv, someone is selling / sharing my e-addy, & i now receive spam that doesn't know my gender [i get testosterone-supplement ads as well as "beautiful Russian bride could be YOURS!!", plus breast-enlargement ads & warnings about talcum-powder & ovarian cancer. It's kinda schizoid. ]

I do go thru it all regularly, as sometimes my software gets a bit over-enthused & throws legit e-mails into the spam box. So i weed out the stuff i want, or the e-addies that i don't want to label SPAM, & the rest i delete wholesale.
 It's a PITA, but this is the world we live in.
