Hi

Our blue whippet, Rubis, (pronounced Ruby) is 8 and is beautiful and good-tempered.

He was born near Bordeaux in France and spent the first 4 years of his

life there but he has been with us now for 4 years so can understand all the commands in English. He was used as a stud dog in France before we had him so he knows what to do!

However, his pedigree is French and we have been told that no one will want to breed with him as the puppies would not be registered by the kennel club.

We don't actually care about the papers - we just want another adorable, blue if possible whippet who is related to Rubis and may have his temperament.

He is a beautiful grey colour and we would really like to find a bitch the same colour to have a chance of a grey puppy.

Alternatively, I am looking to buy a female puppy.

Hopefully

Cathy

If he was registered with the French kennel club you should be able to register him and his progeny in the UK. Try to get further info. Also if you can get any info on his progeny and how he turned out, that will help inform you and owners of bitches on whether to use him as a sire. (Why is it so important that you breed from this dog? I agree temperament is important but I'm sure there are other whippets out there with lovely temperaments )

One of the most important things to consider is finding decent homes for all the pups. There are plenty of whippets available as is.

If you have your dog's pedigree, you may be able to look up some relevant bloodline details at http://www.thewhippetarchives.net

Hey Everyone... I have a five year old niece just getting into riding. She has taken English lessons, I ride western, she knows a bit of both. But not enough of either. Her dad just bought her a pony saddle and now were looking for a well broke, KID PROOF pony. Small enough for children, large enough to last a while.

Let me know

Only just found this reply. Thanks for your advice but I can tell you we are proud owners of a beautiful blue 7 month old whippet puppy we have called Echo because of the French lineage and all French dogs have names beginning with E this year.

The mother is fawn so we didn't expect many blues but there were 4, and 2 brindled, and were the most adorable puppies in the world (in our opinion of course). They all got good homes and one stayed with the mother and we are all keeping in touch and visiting regularly.

Good luck with your search - but in a thread titled "Searching for a Lady" in a forum for Non-Pedigree Whippets, you may have quite a wait!
